Yea,…using downloader or a appstore, troys site ect. As far as google app store believe you need a account to use. I have most of apk’s on my phone and use “send files to tv” app
There are many mirrors of the google app store.
This doesn’t work anymore. Well it does sign me out without resetting device, but it turns off wifi to make it annoying and keeps sending me to the setup screen any time o try to do anything.
Did you have Developer options with usb debugging turned on?

Yes I did. It wasn’t until I turned on both that it gives me the option to remove account and go offline. But if I do that it perpetually kicks me back to setup screen. So it’s unusuable anyway. If usb-debugging isn’t turned on the only option is to remove account and reset device.
Actually I am pretty sure the very first time it let me just remove account and still use it, but shortly after I accidentally clicked on the account and it signed back in, that is when it started the above loop where I cannot remove the account anymore.
So I gave up and signed it in and left it signed in because it was a burner account anyway with a fake phone number from SMSpool. Well I guess they didn’t like that because today it forced me to sign in again and re-enter the phone number, which of course I can’t do.
So it looks like I am going to return this device and get a basic non-Google AOSP device since these newer ones are apparently unable to be rooted via adb. All I really need it for is Kodi. I don’t personally use Google or have a Google account and I am not about to give them my real phone number .
I used to setup boxes with my account, them remove. Found too many glitches. Now I just make up a Gmail and password on setup screen (create account). Probably did over 50+ boxes this way with no problem.
Do you use your real phone number? I don’t want to do that and didn’t. Leaving it signed in didn’t work because a week later I had to provide sms code again and obviously I couldn’t do that. Why is it asking again already? They shouldn’t need a real phone number. They say it’s to prove it’s really you, but if that’s all it is, you should be able to use TOTP 2-factor instead as that is actually more secure.
I never use a phone #, if I remember right I skip that option.
Interesting. Thanks! I tried to do that, but it wouldn’t let me skip. Might be because I created account on a hot spot. I thought I was going to be clever and setup then remove the account and connect to guest wifi network not signed in. That may have forever flagged the account as suspicious. So I’ll give it another try to create a new account after a reset on fully on wifi before I return.
I know this was close to a month ago however I just switched to basic only mode with no issues. Still works. I previously did it on my $20 onn boxes. This time on the onn pro box. I had to set up a few onn pro boxes for a friend. Fortunately I only needed to log into my google account to set it up. Then put it in basic only mode without losing anything I put on the box. That removed all my personal info. He then put his info in and got out of basic only mode once he started using the box. Works great. Obviously usb debugging and developer options needs to be turned on too
May I ask what Basic only Mode is? Is that with it not being attached to an account, once you logged out? I set up one of the sticks just to test, and I found that is I logged in to anything, like say Plex or Netflix, when I logged my google account out I was still logged in on the apps, and when I logged back in with a different google account I was still logged in to those say apps.
ONN does not allow signing out of email account, if one want to remove their email account it resets box to factory settings. Can anybody confirm this is true, if not any suggestions. I am very surprised by this as both my firestick and Nvdia shield tv allow signing out and it works.
Thanks for any suggestions
