🏆 Onn 4K Plus Review - New $29.88 Walmart Android TV Box

Ordered 3 of these yesterday, they say won’t be here until 12.5.25 picked up 12” extension HDMI cable and also a female/female HDMI connector will make it easier to connect and disconnect.
For the cost even if I do not use the stick the remotes are worth the $9.

Yes, be it a firestick, onn stick, etc, the remotes cost more than the stick+remote combos!

Thanks for the response, but I cannot get project ivy or browse here or the TV one on the play store at all, whenever I try to find them in play store all it does is take me to a page of you tube videos but no apps. I did get project ivy from the toolbox but I guess there will be some features that won’t work

Curious are you using the voice search or typing it in the play store search? I never had much luck with voice search, it gives me youtube stuff.I always type it in.

Mostly voice, but I tried typing as well

I downloaded Project Ivy from the troypoint toolbox while I was in downloader.

That’s what I ended up doing as well, Troys video said some features might not work doing it that waybut so far I think it’s ok. I couldn’t get the browse here at all though so I will just try to find another browser that will work

I’ve been using both Plus and the original Onn 4k boxes (not the Pro).

I’ve been experiencing wireless dropping out. Want to use wired, but all the OTG cables for USB-C have the slow USB-A for the Ethernet adapter.

I found this at Amazon and was wondering if this fixes the slow ethernet through the USB-C connector on the Plus.
BENFEI USB-C to Ethernet Gigabit Adapter with 100W Power Delivery

And this:
USB C to Ethernet Cable 4 FT, Type C to RJ45 Cord with USB-C Female 65W PD Fast Charging

I do not need to expand storage, I just want reliable internet connectivity (wired ethernet).

Any experiences with wired vs wireless speed via OTG cable using USB-A ethernet adapters?

Thanks

I would have thought USB2 through a type A connection would be sufficient for streaming (480 mbps, 60 mBps)?

Speed is not a problem. I’m having wireless disconnect randomly to the Onn device. Not sure why, but want to try wired to see if that will eliminate this annoying disconnect.

Gary,…try changing your internet ip settings from DHCP to static and see if that helps.

@gary325 I just bought a brand new usb c otg adapter and tried to get ethernet going on an Onn4k Plus. Never worked after way too many attempts. THEN…(what I should have done first) I REWATCHED Troy’s guide on setting one of these pucks up. He clearly states in the Guide that OTG cables do not work on it with Android 14. I spent more on the stupid otg than the Onn 4k Plus! Another addition to the collection of stuff i “may” need or use later. (I found a windows 98 boot cd in there the other day) Hopefully it will be fixed in the future with a patch or something. I love my ethernet for some solid bandwidth goodness. Buffer Free since '03! (I wish…)

Hello @Reece I put a note in pinned comment of that video I believe. The fix was to disable debugging in Dev Options for expanding internal storage and the same tweak may help with Ethernet as well.

I am currently in the process of loading one up . I tried to download Syncler from the toolbox and it said . This app is unsafe . From play protect.

@ROGOD5150 Did you make sure, in your settings, to TURN OFF play protect?

Good morning advisors. I have purchased 5 onn tv plus boxes . Out of the 5 one keeps blacking out then coming right back on . Any ideas ? Do I return it ?

Try a factory reset. If that doesn’t work, return it.
