Anyone tried any after market remotes yet? I just bought an ONN 4K Plus & will start setting it up, but typically I have the remote on my desk & my wife wants a remote on the end table by the sofa. With a Fire TV Stick, we can buy after market reomtes on amazon pretty cheap.
I do see some ONN 4K remotes there, just owndering if anyone has tried any of them yet? Or even a remote app for an android phone?
I know that some television remotes, like most newer Samsung TVs.. the remote for the samsung TV will also work as an Onn remote without any configuring.. and the Onn remote that comes with the device works also. So test your TV remote on the box. There is an android app free in app store.. search onn remote in play store.
As far as a cheap replacement remote.. buy the Onn streaming stick from walmart for $14.. The stick itself is junk, but the remote is the same and can be paired to the box. I don’t think you can have 2 remotes paired to the box at the same time.. Unless your TV remote works the box also
The stick will work but clearly not the best one to use. Buying another Onn is probably one of the cheapest solutions and there is usually someplace you may be able to use it or for a backup.
I dunno about CA but the onn stick remote is identical to the original onn 4k streaming boxes, and the one they sell online. Right now our local wallyworld has the green box sticks for like $12. I bought one last week for an extra remote.
My onn boxes are all from the USA. They only started selling them in Canada within the last month. I have two of the original 4k boxes and one pro. The remotes I’m sure would work on the other box but the Pro remote is not quite the same. It has an oval blue Free TV button between Home and the volume and channel that didn’t exist on the other, at least back over a year ago.
yea these don’t have the free tv button, but many folks aren’t a fan of that button. Unless you use a mapping apk that button is useless for most users. And that is the only difference in the new and old style remote here is a pic of it,.
I just bought one. While I can get it to pair & work, so far I’ve only been able to do that for one remote at a time.
I can reset the ONN and pair it with the new reote, that works. But then the original remote doesn’t.
I can go into settings and tell it to forget the original & then pair it with the new one, that works for the new one but then the original doesn’t work.
So far I have not been able to find a way to pair both to it so they both work. This has not been a problem with Fire TV sticks, DVR’s from the cable company, TV sets, everything.
But we may not be able to have a remote for each of us for this device
I’m guessing you can’t run both remotes but you could run something like a bluetooth mini keyboard. I have one of those and it works perfectly since it’s another device on the list.
Sorry to hear that. It makes no sense since each would have its own Bluetooth id. I have never experienced that with any other device either and have multiple remotes on my Shield and others but no ONN. As I think about it, I bet it has something to do with the way the ONN can program the remote for IR fallback commands for the TV. That’s the only thing I could think of. At least Walmart it easy to return it so you can try something else. Sorry to have led you down the wrong road.
