Oh no... Onn puling an Amazon on us now?

Which device do u recommend?

@shedb0122 Welcome!

I’m not qualified to give you much of a detailed suggestion list. Where I was coming from with my comment above is that I’ve owned Fire TV products and a few Onn boxes and finally got a Ugoos AM9. Yes, about $100-$150 more than lower end devices but it just feels like a better user experience (to me) with quality, memory, speed and features. If you have high end electronics and TV, a more feature rich streaming device can help take advantage of your TV setup.

My current Onn is in the bedroom but the AM9 is the main device in the living room. Prices have gone up over the months so what was $150 +/- a while ago is now close to or over $200.

Now, do you have to spend $100 + for a good quality device? Absolutely not. It’s a budget decision.

Here’s Troy’s article with the entire gamut…

My experience - I buy mine while I am in the US. Set it up and load all the usual apps. Use it while I’m travelling around then box it up bring it back to Europe and turn it on - never had an issue in coming up to two years. One in the UK and two over with me atm in Spain. All three are Pro’s. Hoping this lasts for a lot longer Just my two cents

I bought 3 ONN boxes off of Amazon.ca about 1 1/2 years ago (I’m in Canada). I set up 2 for friends right away and kept one as a spare. I went to set up the 3rd box a couple months ago and wasn’t able to. I couldn’t get through the setup portion. It recognized my ip address as being from Canada. I also tried using a VPN set to the US. No luck

Is this why I get no stream available on my ONN when I am searching for a show with my adds on in Kodi. I may be doing something wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Any suggestions of troypoint videos?

I agree but I think with all of the hype of these onn devices on YouTube etc everyone went into the " I gotta have it" mode.

@PiratePete It’s the HYPE indeed. Most talked about box on the market with Fire TV on the skids.

Most of the KODI addons require a Premium Debrid service like Torbox or Real Debrid. Do you have one and is it Authorized in the addons you are using?

I take my ONN stick when I travel out of the country. So far it works fine in the Caribbean and in the United States. I set my stick up in Canada

Yes Canada is being blocked also

@RGLozon How does that work with the ONN units now sold at Walmart CA?

AOSP devices are the only to protect yourself from frustration and making your systems unusable. I have the BuzzTV Classic AI.

I’ve got 2 working in the UK that were originally set up in the US. Bought a few more last year on a trip and forgot to set them up in the US…will need to wait for my next trip

My 2 cents worth…I live in Central America…bought Onn 4K Pro in Florida. Set up the basic account in the US before returning home.

Once home, I used Troy’s set up video to load all alternate apps and tools he recommends. I have had no issues at all!

I have bought two ONN pro’s at Walmart in Canada both work fine.

I just received the onn 4k pro version 2 this week. Works great. I have the first version of this box as well. Satisfied with both but I have a disease where I have to keep buying TV boxes so I also have an HK1 H8X H72 box being delivered tomorrow :joy: :joy: :joy:

It really is a disease and I suffer the same. How do you know which is best if you don’t try it for yourself.

And ear buds. I have way way too many ear buds, embarrassingly so. But again, how can I know which is the best…

Hey @PiratePete , the disease you are thinking of is Buyarrhea, and it can be highly contagious in close knit circles, tho considered rarely lethal, that is largely dependent on close relationship tolerances to the disease, such as…

“Frying Pan To The Head Syndrome”

I have the same issue with many things, when I was younger it was guns and cars, nice thing is the guns I looked at as a form of retirement income, that had they not all gotten lost in a fire I would be looking at tapping soon. Now it is TV boxes and pocket knives, and also apps for on the boxes. Tv boxes are most definitely cheaper than pocket knives. I have 2 Tvs and probably close to 20 maybe more tv devices/boxes. Some new in box, I use and SK1 and SK2 currently, but once I get the AM8 redone it will replace the SK2. My mind knows I have some of the better devices out there yet it still thinks hey, we should try that google streamer, and try to find a deal on a Formuler Z11 Pro, I had beat down the urge to buy an AM9 or AM9 Pro, but not sure for how long, or what I would do with it after I got it, I just remembered I bought a Tivo device last week, I wonder where I put that.

I may need some sort of intervention, before the GF left she was the voice of reason, when we would be driving and I would see a mini excavator for sale and say I need one of those, I would always get a backhand and stern NO!!, she saved me a lot of money, some days I miss her, when I am picking up an $800 pocket knife at the post office.
