I am having trouble with my Nividia Shield Pro freezing up on me. I have to reboot it twice every morning so it can work properly. I have cleaned the dust out of it but that didn’t do anything. If anyone has had the similar problem I would love some help on it.
The Shield seems to boot up and load more software than any other box I have ever used. When it boots 15-25 apps, it runs sluggish to start, just trying to get everything loaded and ready for use. Not to mention, the Shield only has 3GB of RAM, which doesn’t help any with this scenario. I think there’s a chance your issue is software based, not hardware based. The best thing I ever did for mine was buy and install TDUK’s app killer. I also use SD Maid a lot to continue to keep it clean and running smoothly.
Thanks AMD I wl try that. It seems that the problem may have started though with the last update. Just a guess though.
How much free space do you have left? I’ve had mine for years and only on rare occasion does it freeze to the point I have to reboot. When it does, I have to fully unplug it for 5 minutes. But other times it’s because Kodi is still open in the background. I have a USB flash drive formatted for internal storage. Don’t know if that would help you. Don’t use a cheap one. I have a high speed Samsung one.
I really don’t have that many third party apps about 5. I only use apks I don’t use kodi at all. But I will try anything to try to get it freed from what it is doing.
We use BACKGROUND APPS AND PROCESS tool which works similar to TDUK.
Thanks I will try that and see what luck I have with that route. Thanks alot for the info.
is your fan running?
Yes the fan is running. The only time I have problems is in the morning that’s when I have to reboot the Nividia 2 times so it can work correctly.
maybe you should try backing up all your info and factory resetting it? may be the only way to see if it’s a software issue…if it runs fine after factory resetting i’d try loading your software one apk at a time to see if one of your apk’s is causing a problem?
I really only want to use the factory reset as a last resort. I have one more thing I know I can try. I have a Kasa timer on the router I unplugged it today and just the straight plug. Maybe the timer is malfunctioning somehow and messing things up.
I usually turn on my Shield let it sit a minute and it’s fine. Yes it can be sluggish otherwise in my experience on both my units.
You are right my shield is also sluggish my problem is that I get impatient on the waiting part. I think for 200 dollars it should come up a little faster.
sorry I did not know it was posted new Formuler
I found out it was the Kasa timer it was messing with router. I turned it on this morning and worked great. I want thank everyone for their help..
for the last couple of weeks I do not have audio at startup = reboot and all is working. this happens maybe 20% of the start ups
I bought a high speed Samsung to use on my shield and it overheated and burnt up.
Did you buy it on Temu?
No I had bought it on Amazon.
@Jayhawks659 do you think that it would help alleviate this issue by using a short HDMI cable rather than mounting the drive directly on USB port? Also, does it help to set that port to off when the Shield is powered off?
