New Walmart ONN box, 2 issues

I think it was a netflix button that worked. I eventually was able to get the the settings, navigating to apps, WLM then restored stock launcher. I left WLM and WL installed but I open WL after booting now.

I bought 2 of these but u nfortunately still in the box as I run all Firesticks. Just to lazy and not real tech savvy to read and program them. :frowning:

@t33bone - at least you’re honest! I sometimes do the same thing, but do eventually get around to using what I bought. Just dont let em get outdated while still in the box!

Much easier than using Firestick OS.

I also much prefer the ease of using a Firestick and the FireTV OS. But I bought one of the first ONN streaming boxs over a year ago. It was fairly easy to configure and the box functioned ok. But just ok. The quality of the experience imho did not come even close to my Max sticks and after a month or two of learning the AndroidOS I decided FireTV was much better suited to my streaming needs. So I threw it in the garbage and didn’t look back. I will say that learning the AndroidOS on the ONN helped make configuring a Shield Pro much easier as most of the programming needed was similiar to the ONN. I hope the new GoogleTV improved the overall experience. You should give it a go. It could well be that GoogleTV will work better for you, but you’ll never know unless you try. If you get stuck we can help. Have fun and STREAM ON!!

There is nothing complicated about setting up the ONN 4K Box. Plug it in, let it update (may take a while), remove some of the preloaded bloatware installed apps, load the apps you want. If you have installed and are using the Stick then the box will be simple for you

Enjoy the rest of your weekend

So my FS4k kept crashing on YTTV, several times a night. I bought the ONN a couple months ago it hasn’t crashed once. So Yay!! I’ve not experienced the problems others have but there is 1 problem that drives me nuts with it. When I’m thru watching anything on Film+ it doesn’t let me go back to any screen. The only solution I’ve found is to go into settings and do a force stop. Then I can open and watch something else. This is the only app I’ve found that does this. Anyone know why or a better solution?

One other thing about the ONN, I found the WiFi to be especially weak so I followed Troy’s video on adding an OTG/Network adapter to be hardwired and it works perfectly. The FS was also hardwired but it did buffer some where the ONN doesn’t. So I’m very pleased with it, except for the Film+ problem

When using YTTV,

  1. Do the ONN remote’s Channel Up/Down buttons work, allowing you to surf thru the channels without needing to go back to the EPG grid to change Channel??
  2. Also, since there is no FFwd, Rew, Play/Pause buttons on the ONN remote
do the D-Pad buttons do all those functions or do you have to position on the Timeline
and click the Play/Pause icon on the Timeline, or drag the Timeline location button back and forth??
    Thanks for any replies.
  1. No
  2. Rewind is the the left part of the circle, FF is on the right. Play/Pause is the center button.

Doesn’t up or down on the ring change channels or selections?

If you are watching a channel no.

I hear you. went out and bought one. Got it like half set up, was like cool. Then went to do some tweaks and change some thumbnails and files around that’s when I found out you can’t get into the media & obb, data files. I tried everything. Through it in the closet…

I just signed up for the 3 week Youtube TV free 3 week free trial.
ONN box - The Channel Up / Down rocker button DOES change Ch without returning to the Guide.
Firestick 4K - The Firestick Remote PRO also has the Channel Up / Down rocker button and it DOES work.
EDIT: BTW when using the YTTV app there are now 4 pre-selected Multi-screens which work in the YTTV app.
I don’t think this is rolled out to everyone but this Free trial has it, pbly to lure new subscribers.

Finally got one of the 2 ONN’s programmed about a month ago. TP’s video made it real easy to follow and program. Now just picked up the ONN Pro today and lets see how long that sits before programming. LOL

Got halfway to Wally World and got the infamous email and text, ā€œYour order has been cancelled as item is out of stockā€ SMDH
