Here’s my First Impressions Video for the new Fire TV Stick 4K Max. I won’t be doing anything with the regular 4K version as I think it’s silly that Amazon released that model in the first place. Pay the extra $10 and get an additional 8GB of storage if you want one of these.
Thanks for putting this together, Troy.
While I’m replying, I want to thank you for all you do. You have helped me immensely since I discovered you, and your website, years ago.
One last thing. Whether it is smarphones, or Amazon Fire TV sticks, storage is so cheap these days, you’d think that they would provide a lot more in the way of storage than just 16GB. It’s not like they provide an upgraded device with say 32, 64, etc.
Thanks for the nice comments @Brewer55 You are right about storage. It seems like Amazon did this to ensure there is enough room on the device for their crap.
Just tried to install and use Wolf Launcher on the new Firestick. It doesnt work as it should. I also tried using launch manager and that doesn’t work either. Soon as you restart the Firestick it goes right back to the standard launch screen with ads and other garbage. We gotta find a fix for this.
Awesome Tutorial as usual Troy! If you highlight the previously used apps even the greyed ones it tells at the top of the screen what it is. so not hard to identify without the picture. But so far very snappy and am getting 250mbps wirelessly with 6e router! out of 500 mbps service.
So I decided update my 4K Maxx while I was at it. Again I cannot connect to the internet through surfshark. Had to connect it and disconnect surfshark about 20 times and then finally I rebooted the 4K Maxx fire stick about four times and finaly everything worked. What a pain.
Thanks so much for all you do for the streaming community. Always looking forward to your next email. I save all of them for possible reachback and forwarding to others who also need help.
Only idea I would have is also rebooting router and cable modem. I’ve had problems with VPNs before and rebooting the router usually clears up the problem.
Right! Maybe there’s some size or heat restriction we don’t know about, but you can get an 128Gb usb drive for around $10 and 64GB for like $7. Maybe they have some warehouse old hardware they over produced and are still trying to get rid of it all lol
Love the video Troy…always know I can come to you for answers! I bought 2 of the new Firesticks…one is perfect but the other won’t let me past the remote volume up and down during setup…
