Oh okay, then might be a user error or setting.
That’s about the gist of it…but there aren’t a whole lot of settings in this particular SS app that can be that different between subs…so I’m a little perplexed…& it sounds like SS support is too.
As far as the box…there are way too many settings, IMO
Any idea if you can shut off the “ipv6” setting on KM6?
SS support trying to have me turn it off but his directions and this box are way different lol.
That would have to be thru your router…box doesn’t have any settings of that nature.
At least none that I’ve ever run across…& I think I’ve gone thru them all…
thats a bs remedy. All vpn’s that I know of are ipv4 only and never an issue.
make sure the proxy settings are off, and ip is dhcp
It was off on my Asus router anyway lol
On the KM6 or my router?
I know the shiel has ipv6 switch but its off by default
what type router? I often will swap my dns servers with others to improve my connection.
Asus AX6600 - ZenWifi
stock or beefed up with merlin?
Just stock. They run great.
great router, ive got an asus ax86u
I love them. I dont think my network is the issue with the KM6 boxes, SS support just is baffled. I guess ill try to expirement this weekend. If you guys think of any setting or anything else i would greatly appreciate you hollering at me. I love my KM6s and Im really really trying to keep Surfshark, but I never had issues like this with ExpressVPN. It is a bit frustrating.
Another quick update here. I turned off Kill Switch (still have Safety dot) and CleanWeb settings. Watched TV on the KM6s last night, was working perfectly. Turn the box off using the power button (suspend)last night, turn the box on (wake the box up) this morning and again SS has dropped my VPN connection and in red letters saying “Checking your IP address”. I quick-connected it and works fine, but so so so so confused. My Shield and Fire Max will keep the Surfshark VPN connection for days and days (obviously multiple power off and on cycles) at a time, but KM6s won’t even overnight.
**SS support wanted me to officially give OpenVPN a shot to fix this issue. They claim it is “more stable” and "may work on some boxes better than others. Within a couple hours, both my KM6s dropped the VPN connection again when booted up. I’m running out of ideas, may try to factory reset one of them for the heck of it.
In case anyone is still interested in my issue lol, here is another quick update. When OpenVPN failed, I decided to go back to Wireguard, turn off all settings in SS app. Auto-connect, kill switch, CleanWeb, etc etc. Found out quickly that if you turn off IP Packets and run an Analiti test, it looks like it is testing but end result of speed is 0 MBPS. Safety Dot showed green, internet wasnt working and reading 0. Weird. Turned ONLY “use smaller IP packets” back on and one KM6 is 2.5 hours in and the other 1.5 hours in and not disconnected. This is with me checking it and waking up/suspending the boxes multiple times. Time will still tell, but looks promising. I’ll update soon unless y’all block my posting privileges for too many updates.
PS. My thinking as of now is that Auto-Connect may be the issue, but I still need to verify that.
Roger all that…just for reference…mine works fine & I have auto/wireguard on…cleanweb on…no borders on…use small packets on…kill switch off…analytics & send crash report off…connect fastest location & nearest country with Dallas a favorite & best connection. Hopefully, yours hangs in there
And…auto-connect on
on my phone I usually stick with defaults except cleanweb is off by default and I switch that on.
To whom it may concern, day 2 of testing. After turning all the “bells and whistles” off except for the small IP packet setting, both my KM6s lasted 16-18 hours without dropping the connection. If fact, the Analiti speed test was blazing and everything seemed super stable. This morning, I have been tinkering, trying to add settings to force it to act up so I can identify the issue. Now I can’t get the stupid thing to disconnect lol. Since OpenVPN worked so badly with disconnecting before, I thought maybe it was the Automatic Protocol chooser setting. Then I thought it was Auto-Connect, now I’m wondering if it doesn’t have something to do with that and the “safe network” setting combination. If I added the network band that my KM6s are connected to to the PC app as a “safe network”, could that potentially interfere with my boxes?
@pangaeatech Unrelated question about the KM6 that I have been curious about since I got them, what is the difference between green and blue light on the front?
