MECOOL KM6 Deluxe Surfshark Crashing

I just deleted SS on my KM2 after I checked the version. Decided to download from Playstore and check…still .7 Deleted and downloaded from @TROYPOINT RAI and it’s Version 2.8.1.8 @AMD237

As above, uninstall it then re-install from Troypoint rapid app installer, latest version is 2.8.1.7.

Just a quick update here. I come home from work, turn on my bedroom KM6 and this is what I get (see attached). When I open the SS app, it states another VPN detected. I uninstalled Express and IPVanish, there is no other VPN on the box. I even force stopped Safety Dot, same thing.

Actually an update to that is both KM6s are showing those exact messages. Im sure it will be fine if I reboot both, but come on this is no bueno. I may have to contact SS.

I had that happen just once on the Max and if I remember correctly I force closed SS, cleared the data, yes data, and then started everything back up and it was good.

Will give it a shot. My thinking if nothing else works is factory resetting both boxes and reinstalling everything, but sounds time consuming.

Ya I was afraid of that scenario as well but the clearing data and restarting the app worked for me. Give it a shot. No promises though.

Cleaning the data and cache removes any trace of that prior connection state. It should reset the app and now go OH no vpn here… kinda like a reset but for apps. Wiping data is good for this situation.

Didn’t you just download the latest version from Troy’s RAI? If so, I’d just dump this one & get a brand spankin’ new fresh one again. :sunglasses:

I tried it, I’m also chatting with SS support. I’m starting to wonder if the CleanWeb being turned on isnt causing issues. But doesn’t cause issues on my Shield or Max. Sigh.

You can contact them and see. It’s hard to say. Different boxes also have different version of software like older or newer stuff and that could be a issue too. Mobile OS, Googletv, androidtv, firetv and so on. I dont have a mecool so i cant help you on this.

It runs Android TV 10, where my Shield Pro is 11. Possibly an issue? Others have been running SS on it though so who knows.

Ron & I both have the KM6 running SS & aren’t having any problems…so not sure if its a different setting made in the box that’s the difference or what

You are running Wireguard protocol?

I leave mine on auto but every time I check, it’s on Wireguard…so basically…yeah.

Also have CleanWeb on…but not the Kill Switch

His answer seems to be changing to OpenVPN, as it is the “most stable protocol” at the moment. Ick.

I find it very slow in comparison…therefore that wouldn’t be acceptable to me.

wireguard could have issues with some servers and openvpn is the most stable, actually lately I prefer ovpn instead of wireguard…but either way ive not had any issues with either.

I drop from 100MBPS to 30MBPS with OpenVPN.
