Looking for IPTV player that will automatically change channels

Philo does that. Say I set Cheers to record, It will record cheers when ever and on any channel and store them all together grouped.

Yeah but my wife watches housewives shows and philo does not have bravo TV. And it’s cheaper to keep her! Why do you think I still have directv?

Tivimate does the same thing for recordings. I can schedule recordings for every, or any day of the week, and any time, in perpetuity, but you can’t do the same for “reminders” instead of recordings.

Tvmate will not record by name only. If you set it up to record let’s say Chicago PD one continuous recording if that program changes channels TV May will not change the channel

I have never found that. The wife’s soap has played on the same channel for years so I can record Mon to Fri at the same time week after week. If it ever did change I would simply redo the schedule.

I only know (subscribe) a prime, big $$$ streaming service where you can record NEW or ALL of a named show, saved for 90 days.

TiviMate is ideal for that. Scroll to the desired show. Long press, toggle down to “Remind”. The channel will change at the desired time and you can set multiple reminders for different channels at different times.

I didn’t know that!
Good tip.

What sucks though is that my EPG is so weak from the Alibaba IPTV service, that the Tivimate reminders aren’t available as an option on all of the channels that I want it to tune to because there isn’t any information there.
I’m going to have to pony up for a better IPTV provider I guess.

Add more epg urls and assign them to your playlists.

For the simplicity issue, get an Onn box from Walmart. You can set it to “apps only” and the interface will remove all the ads and suggestions, leaving you with just the handful of apps you want. You can also set up Tivimate to automatically launch at boot if you just want her to use that app. And it has a pretty bare bones remote.

For your issue about only wanting certain channels or shows you could just create a channel group or use Favorites and delete all the other groups. Leave her with just the 3-5 channels she wants.

Or, have you thought about something like Plex? Not sure if you’re willing or able to make that effort, but you could just give her a Netflix style interface with just the shows and movies she wants. She just picks what she wants when she wants.

Any suggestions on EPG sources? I also have some locals and national channels that I set up in IPTVcat m3U but its EPG isn’t very good either.

Thanks for the Plex suggestion. Her vision is impaired as well as her motor skills. I need to make this as easy as possible. I think setting up the reminders for the afternoon in Tivimate is the way to go, but right now my EPG is the weak point.

Click the Select button on the remote (the big round one in the middle) while the program you want is highlighted and a menu will come up. Click "Remind ". The TV will show a notice when it is about to play. She doesn’t have to do anything. It will automatically go to the channel you picked.
I have an iptv from Alibaba too. I just set a reminder for 15 minutes from now. I will let you know if it changes channels.
It worked.

Thanks for the link. I’ll try out a trial and give it a spin. $33.90 is for a year?

How has the buffering been for you? Amber’s Alibaba IPTV was bad today, probably because of the football games.

How is the EPG? Does it have a lot of 24/7 channels?

Thanks!

I removed the link. I got a message saying that wasn’t allowed.
Mine is good most of the time. I have 3 or 4 active on Tivimate. If one starts acting up, I go to a different one.
No problems with the EPG.
You are welcome.

Man I wish I would have thought of that, the remind button huh? LOL

Not at all technical but I was wondering if a voice remote would help. They are very good. I use mine a lot. Good luck.

It doesn’t work as well as one would like. I tried. You can’t open TiViMate and tune to a specific channel, or set reminders. About all you can do with voice is search. But even then you have to actually manually start the search function and then use voice to enter your query. Hopefully, going forward, this is something that will improve with AI.

I was able to get the voice to open both Tivimate and Sparkle. They both opened to the last channel played.

My command was “Open TV Mate Player” and “Open Sparkle Player”.

However, I believe Google is hard of hearing!

Fyi, when I tried with command just saying Open Tivimate. It would open a link to the Play Store. I tried Open Tivimate App also and got the same thing.
