Looking for IPTV player that will automatically change channels

Hi there,
I didn’t see this topic covered before but I’m trying to get IPTV working for someone who is disabled and struggles with remotes and technology in general.
I only have experience with Tivimate so far and I don’t think that it will do what I’d like.

I’d like to be able to go through an EPG and click on shows and have it tune to that program and change channels at that predetermined time. It would need to be recurring so that it would change every day at that same time. Is this possible?

Any help is appreciated!

Not possible at this time. Most providers only provide an EPG that has maybe 2 or 3 days ahead at most. You can set daily recordings but that doesn’t help with recurring daily channel reminder.

Actually never heard of that. You could set up a hardrive, route to the storage and record. Then set it to replay but even then not sure with tivimate. I know on channelsdvr I can set it to auto play the next que but still not sure of the channel swap.

Thanks.
I think what I’ll have to do is set up a limited amount of favorites in Tivimate and have her just scroll through a handful of channels until she finds what she’s looking for.
I need to find a simple Bluetooth remote that won’t confuse her or have too many buttons for her to accidentally press.
I think that she’d be fine in Tivimate scrolling through the channels, but if she accidentally exits out to the Shield menu, she might be a little lost.

I have TiViMate set to auto start when my system boots up. Settings >General>Auto start app on boot.
Well it is easy enough to use voice search in TiViMate. Click left twice on the remote once TiViMate has loaded to it’s landing page>click up once>click enter twice say channel like ABC 13 or for more specific results say ABC Anchorage> click enter and abc Anchorage starts playing.

Thanks.
It might be easier for her to just use the up and down arrows to scroll through 10 or so channels.
She doesn’t have very good fine finger dexterity.
We’ll just strip the favorites down to the bare essentials.

I actually have 3 groups. news, sports, and faves. But for those who only watch say 20 channels Favorites is quicker imho.

I also picked up a G10S Pro BT remote because it seems like one of the more simple basic Bluetooth remotes. I haven’t let her give it a spin yet though to see how she can handle it. It can do voice commands too. Found it on AliExpress for around $7.00

Voice Remote Control Sensitive Multi Function Air Remote for Android System TV Protector G10S PRO BT Voice Remote Control, Remote Sensitive Multi (G10S PRO BT) https://a.co/d/dsZ6BgX

The shield does voice commands as well or google voice. The problem has been that it doesn’t seem possible to 1. Start Tivimate 2. Open favorites 3. Play a specific channel. Maybe with more AI coming down the pipe it may be possible.

A remote voice wont change channels but could help in getting back to tivimate.
Question, If ota channels are viewed often TabloTV is $99 and easy to navigate and keeps playing recordings if set that way. Also Philo (not free) but also is easy to navigate within the app.

I just tested the remind button on TV mate and it does change the channels for you. But you still have to set up all the channels in the first place. Then the remind status will change the channel on its own.

Sweet!
But you’re limited to what’s listed in your EPG right?
I probably can’t get it to do a recurring reminder at the same time everyday.

That to depends totally on your EPG yes. On my paid IPTV it only goes out of day and a half so yes you can set it up for a day and a half and that’s it. It’s totally restricted to your EPG. Before I hang up let me look at one more thing.

Ive set up a test using “my list” I added 2 programs and will see if anything occurs.

edit…Just read that my list will keep you informed when shows on my list have catch-up…or something :joy:

Well it didn’t work. I was trying to manipulate beyond my day and a half where the EPG says no information I wanted to change it and put a headline in there but I can’t do it unless I record it. I can change the name or add a headline only if I record it not for a remind.
I wish there was a way to take a TV listing such as zap2it and put their EPG into my TV mate

you can do that with emby

Maybe, but I’d have to have a video from Troypoint.com that tells me exactly how to do it. Maybe somebody here needs to do a video on that?

You still can only set a reminder for the day you’re watching. It isn’t possible to do recurring reminders for say every day at 3pm on a “forever” schedule.

I think that I’ll suggest this to some of the devs of the IPTV player apps. I know my case is unusual, but I could picture that some other folks could also use automated channel changing.

Good luck! I offered $1,000 to any developer that can make TV mate record by the name of the show. And what I mean by the name of the show it doesn’t matter what time of the day that show comes on it’ll record by that name. Nobody bit!
