Looking for a device with more storage than firestick, thoughts

I am looking for a streaming device with more than 8GB. This is for my son (he is partially disabled) and want a jailbreakable device with more the 8 GB, 32GB or more desired. Because of money issues want it as cheap as possible. Have seen several, but do not know what will work.

Thanks in advance

Troypoint.com and using our search so many suggestions. Lots and lots.

For $20 you can get an OTG cable and a 64 GB Sandisk . On a 4K Max that will give you 2GB Ram, about 5 GB on the stick, and then 64 GB of storage.

What about Android TV box T95? Have found no reviews on it.

Great idea, but might be above son’s ability to use. He is lucky to be alive and has no short term memory, that is why I am doing this.

After the initial setup, it will just act as storage for apps. Shouldn’t be any expertise needed to use it, once that is installed and the apps loaded. You can also customize the stick as you need to…aka use a launcher. Yes, Amazon blocked them, but you can use Launch on Boot to have (for example) Wolf Launcher boot to an easy to use, organized screen.

But once you hook it up and load the apps you just use them the same as always. No different than using memory on any device. Not sure what boxs meet your needs, but there are lots to choose from.

Try the Onn box and add storage, this is the cheapest way. If not using Kodi this is what to use.

Onn box seems to have changed. I looked yesterday and it seemed to have no storage on it. It used to have either 16 or 32 GB. That is what I had intended to use.

Sounds like you want a good budget model with a few more bells and whistles than an onn box or firestick. I always prefer any box not requiring expanding storage except in the case of recording. The imho best bet will be a 4/32 box with amlogic android tv. No matter what you pick look for that. 4gb ram(memory), 32 gb storage.

I agree. Although even 2gb of ram Will suffice so long as it’s DDR 4

After a bit of time in this hobby I’d love to have a streaming device with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. Especially if it is totally configurable with root.

Agree, Im using a 4K Max with 64GB flashdrive usb for my father-in-law and its been flawless. If a deal can be found, I’d consider one as the tech specs are above average.

I’d recommend a BuzzTV xrs4900 or the x5.

I have the x5 with 128GB internal storage. You have the option to add a memory card or a HD/SSD connected to a 3.0 USB slot. For most people, the internal storage will more than be enough!

But hasn’t the X5 been going through an update mess lately? Similiar to the Nvidia debacle?

IMO…Keep It Simple Sir…KISS…& make sure the remote is also simple & user friendly. When you narrow it down, let us know which devices you’re looking at…I’m sure there will be plenty more input from all of us in the peanut gallery :cowboy_hat_face:

PS: Sorry to hear your son almost didn’t make it…but happy he’s still with you. :+1:

Ended up buying the Buzz TV HD5. So hopefully I won’t have to tech support all the time. Let me know you thoughts on this.

Thanks

Yes, had an update early July that got pulled quickly before it affected many customers.

I did update one dated July 14th & about a week ago they released another which i’ve been holding off till i heard other people’s experiences with it. Seems OK so i’ll probably install it tomorrow.

Pray for me!
