@Comtech - good luck on the update fixing whatever issue(s) you’re facing with native player/recorder.
I installed the update yesterday. Had an issue prior to updating where i couldn’t change from channel i was recording. Now, i can’t record anything - oh, i can set it to record but get a message ‘waiting for recording/streaming url’ All recordings have 0 length. On top of that, the picture on many channels is jittery & even freezes for 4-5 sec.
Tech support even logged into my box to figure things out - was supposed to get back to me today to log in again. Set a time, he didn’t call!
With TiviMate, no issues whatsoever - recording or just watching channels.
You are right on. Any device with lesser specs than 4gb RAM, 32 gb internal memory, and rooting option won’t give you the flexibility, processing power and memory to be a good performing streamer over the long haul.
Never had any issues with any mecool box recording provided its set up right. With the shield you can use the built in live channels app to record. Its pretty straight forward, tells you insert drive with at least 50 gigs(I think) and bam off it goes. Formats and routes it for you. Too bad that same app wont do that with other boxes??? Guess its just nvidea know how.
As others have stated once the initial setup with an OTG cable and a usb stick on the firestick has been done there is no expertise required to use it. Firestick 4k Max should be used. for expanding storage. I had problems with the 4K expanding storage and gave up. I do have a T95 android with 4K ram and 64 GB storage. A little more expensive than 4K max but that may be the route to go if you do not want to bother with the initial set up of a 4K max. I have not had any problems with the T95. The KM7 MECOOL box I have had endless problems.
Hey Miki, just searched my Gmail as it’s been a while since I bought my T95Z Plus box and forget when I bought it and the Spec’s. I bought this from Gearbest back in 2018. Paid $60 for it. I never shut it off, and havbe absolutely zero problems with Overheating or anything else. I run Multiple KODI Builds, Tivimate, Streamio and several other apps. I keep waiting for this Box to give me some Hiccups or die but it just won’t!

Hi, I have a W2 android box ,with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It was around £43 and I believe that the quality in picture etc at least equals the Firestick. It also has the benefit of not having anything to do with the Firestick manufacturers! If I’d known about the W2, I wouldn’t have bothered getting the F’stick. One thing I feel a heads up is required is: there is an IPTV app which, when you first open it, is like all your Christmases coming at once. It really is the one stop shop I had been looking for…ALL the categories were available to me - some of them having the edge on those which I was using … and it seemed to be free! A couple of weeks after using it, without warning, it stopped working and a notice appeared, telling me that a subscription was required to continue using the app. Having said that, I don’t remember what the charge was, but I felt a bit upset that there was not previous warning about it being on a trial period. But that was the only tiny downside to my whole experience, and I now use only 3 apps to satisfy my viewing requirements. I hope this is of some use for you. Kind regards, Humbucker
