Lefty Righty - Righty Lefty

Another senior moment strikes again. I did something just don’t ask what it was. I haven’t a clue. Anyway using my Nvidia Shield TV Pro what used to be on the left side of the screen is now on the right side of the screen. My app icons are now reversed as well. Does anyone have any idea what controls this? I can’t find anything in my settings that seem to be the answer. I just can’t imagine that the answer is anyplace else. Thanks again.

This is a good one! UGH!

Do you have another TV to plug the Shield into? Just to see if the issue follows. This would rule out the TV, at least.

In fact I brought the Shield across country with me to set up on a new tv hoping when I got here it would right itself but no I still have the same issue. I know I’m going to have to try doing a reset but I just hate the idea of having to load everything all over again.

OH, that’s a drag! I was kinda hoping it wasn’t a TV issue as getting a new TV can be pricey these days.

If it makes you feel any better, I accidentally hit a wrong button, the other night, and completely deleted Kodi. I had 5 or 6 addons set up just the way I like them. And I’ve always used Kodi history to save all my searches. And, silly me, I don’t use Tract since the Kodi addons save all of my TV shows and movies that I watch. But it ended being great practice, I guess.

Please fill us in when you re-set up your Shield.

I don’t currently have my Shield next to me, but provided your remote still works as it should, this should be reversible through a setting that’s either under “Interface” or “Accessibility”.

Thank you. I think I’ll have to change my nick to “nail” because I think I’m dumb as one. I was unable to find anything to fix it. I appreciate that info though. Have a great day.

I just checked mine, I was mistaken on where to find the option, sorry about that! It was under “Developer options”. It is called “Force RTL layout direction”, with RTL meaning right-to-left.

Interesting! I will have to check that out. Why in the world would that even be an option?

I just checked my onn pro and the option is there as well in Developer Options.

Not sure how it could happen without actually changing the setting but maybe someone was playing a joke on @DCT213 ? Or hit the setting without realizing it.

Its kind of awkward to navigate backwards so I switched “right” back or is it “left” back? Lol

@JerryJ, I guess the reason is “Why Not”. Some people may prefer it. I would probably have gotten used to it if I left it like that for a while.

Maybe it’s an option for left handed folks, which I am one of.

Me too Jerry! But it is still a bit awkward even for us more evolved humans.

I was raised in a generation where left handedness was bad.(sinister). So my mom did her best to convert me. Things like wiping butt, brushing teeth, although not at the same time, were all taught as a right hander. I remember in elementary school that we had big desks. But middle school and beyond there were these tiny desks with the arm rest on the right side. Not so much me but I did notice that some leftys writing back-handed. So myself had to become adept at using either hand. The term that fits me is ambisinister which means klutzy with either hand .

My brother decided in elementary school to learn how to write and do stuff with his left hand. We had to copy down some lengthy stuff and he wasn’t doing it. The teacher came over and asked why. He said he had writer’s cramp. She told him to use his other hand. He said he couldn’t as he had ambidextrous writer’s cramp. He spent the next hour with the principal. Discussing ambidexterity I think, could be wrong. :face_with_peeking_eye:
