Kodi Setup Video Start2Finish

Sorry guys. I found it.

Settings/Player/Videos/Playback/Sync playback to display - Turn On.

Then when viewing, click on the cog wheel described previously and the playback speed option will be available.

@Jayhawks659 as you probably know, I’ve recommended your tutorial on multiple occasions. And I do refer back to it to refresh my memory on various things. But now I have a question if I may.
I’m running the latest update of Kodi, 22.3 if I recall correctly. I’m certain that I am brain-dead but I seem to remember that if you are watching a movie and you decide that you don’t want to finish it, that you could hit the back button and it would close the video. At least that was how my brain says that it worked. But currently if I hit the back button the video continues to play in the background without stopping. So now one has to hit the back button 4 or 5 times to get the video to stop. Is that the way that it has always been or is this a change with the last update? I went through you tutorial and at around 12:30, in you video talking about the “On Screen Display” which I thought might be the setting for that. Unfortunately, the latest version doesn’t even have that setting. I am thinking that the setting that you are referring to in your video is just eliminate the control functions that show up at the bottom of the screen.

In this video the instructions in audio sittings say to turn on stereo upmix but all the YouTube channels for kodi audio settings say to leave stereo upmix off. So now I’m confused what setting it should be set at. Which setting is correct? I am running a atmos 7.1 audio setting in Kodi through my audio receiver using Nvidea Shield pro.

@JerryJ been using KODI for 10 years and this is the 1 error I still make and one most newer KODI users have a hard time grasping. when you are watching something in KODI and you want to get out of it you need to hit the pause button first then back out of it. If you simply back out of it the movie/show will continue playing and you need to hit the back button several times to get completely out of KODI while the movie/show still plays as you said. It has always been like this and is one of the things in KODI that is not intuitive

Thank you, I had that question as well.

I’ve hit BACK by accident and it’s MADDENING! I just hit STOP now and most add ons will give you the opportunity to RESUME where you left off the next time you go into it. Not ALWAYS but most of the the time.

I try to make a mental note at what minute mark I’m STOPPING so that I can FF to that point if I don’t get the RESUME option.

@SoloWarrior Thank you for the reply!

It’s funny, I’ve been a Kodi user for years and this thing just came up. Using a remote with a streaming devise is kinda like driving a car with a manual transmission. At first it’s take foot off gas-depress clutch-move stick to 2nd gear-let out clutch…etc. It becomes second nature. I will admit that for quite a few years I was driving Kodi with a Fire Stick remote. But I’ve had to re-wire my brain to use the remote that comes with the ONN and the AM9. And that has be a challenge for me.

Sometimes you actually have to LOOK at the remote too. Our fingers often move FASTER than our brain and before we think, our fingers have instinctively moved and hit the wrong button.on the remote. Happens to me a lot. It’s hard to see the buttons without glasses and impossible in the dark.

Go to 18 minute mark on Jayhawks video to set up key map editor to get out of video using the go back button.

Damn thanks @PapaS been using KODI for 10 years but never knew this was a thing. Just checked it out. Pretty good with Tech but there’s a few things I don’t do. I don’t use Launchers as they bricked me on multiple occasions and i don’t remap my remote buttons. when it comes to remotes I have a simple rule. Do not Fu$K with the buttons

Jayhawks659 can you please answer my question or maybe somebody else with the stereo up mix setting set to on in your video ? All the kodi instruction videos on YouTube say to turn stereo upmix to off in audio settings when surround sound or atmos 7.1 layout is used.

Thanks for the assist! Been busy lately and don’t catch stuff on here as fast as I used to.

It’s subjective. There’s no right or wrong answer. Depends on your setup too. Stereo upmix means exactly that… you take a 2 channel audio feed (left and right) and convert it to a 5.1 or whatever format. If you have a full blown home audio setup with an AVR, or a good sound bar with audio processing, then you can just leave the setting alone and your AVR or sound bar will do the processing depending on what listening mode you have it set to. If you just have a TV that simulates surround sound (often marketed as “Dolby Atmos capable") then it might be best to turn the setting on in Kodi to ensure the TV plays it in the upmixed format.

Google or ChatGPT would have given you a quick answer. Please be patient, as we are all on here as hobbyists on our own time, not getting paid.
