Kodi Fork 21 Omega by TROYPOINT - Run Multiple Kodi Apps

Any update? I am having the same issue.

welcome

That’s nice, but I would prefer a bare bones stock fork without the extras (skins, background images etc.) and choose which addons I prefer to install. That would keep the file size down as well. My two pennies. Thanks for all you do!

Lots of barebones forks.

Oh I didn’t make the fork, was only informing what was contained inside it if you decompiled. Specifically just what made the file size difference between it and the same stock Kodi version.

Thanks Miki, appreciate your reply. I’m aware of the forks available in the Toolbox. My point was that Troy’s forks contain additional things like background images, addons, and skins that I would prefer to not have included. Others might, and that’s great. To each his own.

This all goes back to my original question as to why Troy’s forks have larger file sizes than the “stock” Kodi program downloaded directly from the Kodi website. It has been pointed out that the extras included in Troy’s forks are what make the file size larger.

I was just curious as to why the file size is larger, and now I know. I would just prefer not to have the extras included. That’s all I’m sayin’.

The extras are included for the benefit of the less experienced user, and for most, with the ease of devices now having larger internal storage capacity, it’s rarely an issue. If you prefer not to have the extras then get the APKs that don’t have them.

Thanks Miki. I have looked in the Toolbox, and other sites, and am unable find a v21 fork without extras/builds. If I missed one, I apologize. If you, or anyone else, could point me to one, I’d be grateful. Thanks for your help…

Just curious because i really dont know.

Are you not able to delete the “extras”?

Exactly what I tried to do, but the uninstall buttons for each addon are grayed out. Any addons I’ve installed myself are able to be uninstalled. So I don’t know…

Gotcha.

Maybe someone can tell you a work around to delete them.

I wonder if the fork has to be different from the original or else it would just be an exact copy.

So maybe they need that little modification to be a fork instead.

Scroll up and see Troy’s post. This is the reason why

There’s not any movie or tv type addons pre-installed that I can recall. Are you referring to the 2 extra skins? The only addon would be the inputstream.adaptive, but it is something you’ll more than likely need sooner or later and doesn’t really need uninstalling.

Troy’s reason was incomplete. LOL

I can delete the extra skins from the apk and repack, as well as anything else you don’t want in there, but don’t know if that would be kosher with whoever made the fork originally.

Once you download the Fork it’s on your devices. What you delete doesn’t affect who created it.

I know this. But I can delete it from the apk before it is installed. You’re talking about after it’s installed.

I dont need anything changed. I was just trying to help @firestick59.

But I guess you reaffirmed my point that the fork should be different from the original kodi so it isn’t just a copy. Either out of respect or an “unwritten rule”.

I was just trying to answer your question. I realize it’s firestick59 that wants it without the extras included. There is a way to do that, but after you delete the skins (or whatever you want) you have to resign the apk package because the original signature on the package would become invalid since there was contents removed and the apk was altered. In other words, it would give you an error if you tried to install without generating a new signature/certificate. The only thing about a fork that needs to be different than the original Kodi is the name. You can’t install 2 things with exactly the same name.
