Kodi 21.1 crashes when trying to open on my onn 4k pro android tv box

Hi  friends. I tried to do searches before posting this but couldn’t find anything, so if it’s a repost pls forgive me:pray:t2:

I don’t know why but today I cannot open my kodi 21.1 installed on my onn. 4k pro device.
I open my Surfshark vpn like always before opening kodi. Today, when I tried to open kodi it tries to open but immediately goes back to main screen. Mostly when I try to open it does nothing. I went to apps on onn 4k and made sure I cleared cache. I reset my onn. device, etc… Anyone have any suggestions to help? Like I said, I did several searches before posting. I was trying to follow the rules :raised_hand:
Thanks, Patachou :hugs:

My only suggestion is go to apps and Force Close Kodi, then try to open it. If that doesn’t work, maybe re-install?

I never thought of doing a force close. I’ll try it now! Thanks for your quick reply :+1:

If that doesn’t work i have a question…
Did you recently clear data on kodi? I have noticed when i do that it makes it unusable and i have to delete and reinstall.

I only clear data if necessary but it seems like a waste as deleting it is needed anyway.

Hi  No, I didn’t delete the data, only cache, but thanks much for your response.

I just tried the force stop method but to no avail . Guess I’ll have to reinstall :sob:
Thanks for trying to help. I really appreciate it :pray:t2:

Ok good luck. Not sure why that would happen.

Maybe you’re right and I deleted data by pure accident when cleaning my cache. I’m usually very careful when doing so, but looks like I have to reinstall :worried::pleading_face::sob: All that work down the drain …
Take care and thanks for your message

Yeah sorry about that. That was the same symptom i get that’s why i thought you might have cleared data.

Hopefully you just need to download a build.

You should never clear data on KODI. That wipes you out.

I hope so too! I’ve never been in this situation before where I have to install another version of kodi and lose all my data information.

Hi  I am always careful with never deleting my data in kodi or any other apps. I can’t get it to open on my onn. 4k pro so I tried the suggestions from @Dminor9 and @JPM69 but just can’t get it corrected.
I’m just guessing that I possibly hit delete data by mistake but not sure
Thanks @MarkxG - even tho you are a Red Sox fan!!! Lol

Best bet at this point is to go into the Toolbox and start over. Download KODI and whatever Build or Addons you use. I’d recommend Umbrella

@MarkxG That’s great advice. I will go to :toolbox: toolbox and install from there. I don’t care for the builds, so I’ll just re-download kodi from there. Do I uninstall my current version 21.1 before re-downloading and installing the new one? I’m using onn. 4k pro android tv box on a Samsung tv.
Thanks again :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, I do not know what’s going on. carried it. When mine opens up. It shows a picture of a girl. holding something. Sometimes. it closes afterwards. other times it closes After you see the girls I have a diggz build I don’t want to lose. So I’m pretty much screwed. I backed up my build, But what good is that? If I can’t get there?

Yes delete the old kodi before reinstalling 21.1

Hopefully it works. It is still just a guess that you deleted your data. Hopefully not something else causing the problem.

Welcome to TroyPoint!

Trying to see what your issue is with. The build or kodi.

Can you let us know a few things

Your Device is the Onn 4k Pro?
Kodi 21.1?
Diggz AIO build 1.3 or a different one? Also did you update 1.3 after the 9/3 additional changes?

Yes, same similar here. Kodi opens up and shows the big picture of the kodi K but as soon as it says on bottom of screen initializing kodi it closes immediately and takes me back to main menu. Then if I try to open it again nothing happens.
Not looking forward to reinstall and get all my data put back in.

Hey before you delete your kodi maybe you can use the Troy fork and load it up.

Someone may have a fix for you so you dont lose everything.
