As far as i know, it is only affecting the Onn devices. My Nvidia shield tv pro and FS are both working fine with 20.4
Luckily my Onn is a backup device at home.

The problem is not limited to ONN devices. I experienced it on my Ugoos AM8 running plain Android, FWIW.
I didnât know that. Same problem? The remote select button not responding?
Yes, exactly that.
Samething happened to me on my Own box. I followed Troyâs video, as I always do. Iâm going to have to uninstall 20.4 and reinstall 20.3. If it ainât broke, donât fix it. Just s little extra work.
I too have had the same issue. What I did notice was it worked on my older firestick (from 2020) but not on the newer one (from 2023) both are running the latest Fire OS software. Iâve left the older firestick with the new Kodi 20.4 on it for now and it seems to be ok for me but my wife said it was âacting upâ on her. She just wasnât able to articulate exactly what âact upâ meant.
The end result is, it looks like the update works on older firesticks but not on the newer ones
This is a known issue and there are work arounds on the internet and the Dev is aware. The obvious work around is to uninstall 20.4 and install 20.3 as the issue does not happen there.
I should have specified the add-ons inside Kodi. I am not using a build, but rather a set of apps that I prefer. Deleting 20.4 and reinstalling 20.3 means I have to reload and reconfigure all those apps @%$#@. I just think the folks that created 20.4 and put it out as a stable version of Kodi have a responsibility to FIX the problem. I guess you could say it is stable, since nothing in it moves.
If you check out the link to the Kodi Forum discussion in the post just above yours, there is a reference to a way to install the 20.3 apk over 20.4 using ADB commands, with a switch to override Androidâs downgrade prohibition. Might be worth looking into if itâll save you the aggravation of reinstalling and configuring all your addons.
My remote acted up as well. The select button wouldnât do anything, but the arrow would. I am using an after-market remote. To âfixâ this, I re-paired the original remote and have to use that one now. Funny thing is that I have 2 KM9 PRO DELUXE boxes and only 1 had this problem.
I originally posted this topic in the hope that I could find a fix for the problem I was having. I also hoped others would see the threads, and avoid what happened to me. It appears there was limited success. The thread previous to this one has a possible solution. That is good to hear. I would need detailed instruction on that solution. The easier way for me was to just delete and reinstall. I have the knowledge and ability to do these things very quickly, thanks to Troy, and all of the good folks who are kind enough to contribute to Troypoint. I do have one wish for future additions to the tp toolbox. Troy, can you do more extensive testing to avoid this type of thing? Thank you for everything you do. I am so greatful to you for sharing all of your knowledge
Good luck with the fixes.
To be fair, TP is just making it easier for you to get kodi and other apps for your device. If you want to complain about them go to the source.
There is a kodi website and github forum. Complain there.
I am being very fair, and gracious. I am looking at my thread and donât see a complaint. I see some good advice, which would seem unnecessary given the situation. But the fact is, if you send me data and that data is faulty, then I am coming to you. It took me a couple of hours to fix, probably less. We are all just networking here. No complaints Thank You
Yes you were being gracious but TP did not send you data. You downloaded on your own by choice.
Its not TP job to test every device known to make sure kodi was updated correctly. The developers gave it the thumbs up so TP made it available on his tool box.
Someone please correct me of im wrong.
The thing is, it wasnât an issue on every device or with every remote, and in all fairness to Troy itâs impossible for him to test everything on every device using every possible permutation. We all take our chances and when things go south we work together as a team to overcome those issues. Ultimately the dev required logs from other users to decipher the issues and code fixes.
Kodi 20.4 and Xenon Plus 2.4 with Real Debrid and Trakt on a Nvidia Sheild pro. Its sweet paradise, all works great.
When you get your Diggz build all tweaked in the way you like it, run a backup. Then a situation like this wonât affect you that badly.
You could have just uninstalled 20.4, installed 20.3, then install Diggz and restore the backup from the Chef Wizard.
It comes in handy for multiple devices and saves a bunch of time and trouble.
No you were not being Fair. You are blaming a bug in a KODI point release on Troy. That is just ridiculous. The amount of people complaining that a minor point release has bugs is crazy. Take the 10 minutes delete 20.4, go to the Toolbox, install 20.3, your Build or Addons, Authorize RD and Trakt and be on with it. Maybe because Iâve done it probably 100âs of times itâs nothing but donât be blaming Troy.
Iâm having the same problem you are having. Nothing is working on my update to 20.4.
So itâs delete everything and start again. No point in moaning about it.
Just do it. Iâm using an android TV.
Kodi 20.4 has deactivated the select button on both my Onn Box remotes. Kinda makes them useless. Going back to 20.3 and put up with the cache issue. Its easier to deal with. Is there an easy way to go back to 20.3 without losing my data or do I need to start over. Havenât had to do this previously. Thanks.
