Looking for some additional help with ipvanish. I have followed every step there is in Troy’s video on how to supercharge ipvanish with no success. I consistently get 190 to 194 Mbps from my internet provider and it drops to 15 Mbps when using ipvanish… No way it should be that low. I am located in Atlanta Georgia and I choose Atlanta server for best results. I’ve tried every protocol and sub protocol combination as Troy has suggested and the best performance I can get is 15 Mbps. Just wondering if there’s anyone else in Atlanta that has configured IPvanish to perform better than this. I’ve seen a ton of videos showing increased download speeds when using ipvanish and Wireguard protocol which was the main reason I purchased ipvanish.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
What device? Is it wifi or hardwired? Whats your downspeed?
You may need to look into bandwidth allocation, how many units are connected to the router and make sure its not sending all the bandwidth to one unit.
Make sure all incoming internet is cover. Start with testing wired and wireless, over 100 you need cat 5e or cat 6. Test everything without vpn then with.
Thanks for your reply…,…
My download internet speed is between 190 and 194 Mbps most of the time.
I am connected to 5 GHz Wi-Fi with “excellent” signal strength.
I use an Android box streaming device.
Speed test that use is analiti.
My Wi-Fi setup seems to be more than adequate for what I do.
Almost 150 to 200 is good enough for streaming, you shoukd expect a vpn loss, but 15 is a lil low. Something is up and it could be anything even interference.
That tells me its your network, ether modem router or both.
You will need to login to your router to see whats connected and whats getting the most speeds. The app decreasing by that much on both units. You sure you tried the lowest ms server with all protocols? Open tcp oe wireguard should fix this.
OpenVPN and UDP worked best for me until wireguard came along. Have you tried customer service live talk and see if they have any help for you? I would also try different IPV server locations. Just because a server is close to you doesn’t mean it’s the best. Could be an overloaded server poor service line heck even a loose connection on your incoming line to the modem.
I know what you mean about ipvanish. Overall I like it but it does weird things sometimes. WireGuard works sometimes and then when I connect again it gives me an error and I have to change the protocol.
I live in Vegas and when I connect to the Vegas servers it is slow. When I connect to Los Angeles, Denver, Dallas, or Phoenix it is much faster. When my subscription gets close to expiring I am going to try some other services if they offer a free trial unless ipvanish can correct its issues.
My only suggestion would be to try other Non-Atlanta servers and see if you get a faster connection.
I came here just to find out if others were having issues with the app as well. I am having the same issues lately. I am in Columbus Ohio. It takes forever to connect, drops the connections, usually takes about 10 minutes or more to get it to connect. When my subscription is up with IPVanish I will be finding another VPN. It is not you or device, it is the IPVanish app. I have updated, deleted, reinstalled, whatever. Like I said when it runs out, no more. Probably with Nord VPN
With IPVanish I had it for 5 years. My speeds fluctuated from about 20- 30 Mbs down using wireguard. When I Switched to ExpressVPN my speeds went up to 55-65 using the Lightway-UDP.
I am on a 100Mbs down service. I usually get between 90 to 105 without a VPN. but I absolutely never connect to the internet without an active VPN.
Just did 3 consecutive tests using analiti and connected to a Cdn server from Mexico and my speeds were from 60 to 65 I then switched to my closest U.S. server and speeds varied from 55 to 60.
Without my vpn on at this time of day, My speeds are 80 to 85.
