What’s the optimal solution for seniors. Must be dead simple and super easy to use (no menus, no channel guides).
My parents are over 90 - English is not good. I currently have them with Bell TV (in Canada). They only watch about 8 channels.
I have the system setup so all they do is press power. Then up/down to cycle through the 8 preset stations. Dead simple and dead easy. No menus. No channel guide. 3 button system. Works for them.
I’m paying $100+ for 8 stations with Bell
But it’s convenient and super easy to use - and they are happy. Gladly paying. Cant beat a 3 button system (power, up, down).
Is there an IPTV solution that can be setup with the same simplicity and ease of use?
Absolutely there is. TiVimate which you can configure to start when you start your system, open to last channel you were on and only show as many or as few channels as you want. It isn’t just the elderly, there are so many ppl that haven’t a clue how to use even the most basic of devices.
Miki,
Since you’re a leader. And I told you I would never post anything again on this site.
I noticed that unlike any social media site I’m using . I have the ability to “DELETE”
any post I no longer wish to see on "“MY Posts”. I spent weeks trying to find some
way, on my own , to delete them. You and Troy can delete my posts. But I don’t see a way to do it myself. I have no wish to disengage from this site. I’ve earned the right
to at least be allowed to stay on it. Since I enrolled the first day Troypoint started the Insider.
I just don’t want my posts to be visible to either myself or anyone else.
ANYMORE.
Facebook , Twitter, Apple messages. Every single site allows the user to delete his own
messages.
Please advise me if I have a way to do it.
The only way is to open each post, then down the lower right in the post, click the three horizontal dots, then click the pencil and delete or change anything as you like. I don’t know of anyone who is not allowing you to stay on the site. That’s entirely up to you.
I have to do this on my iphone.
BECAUSE.
Your response is not visible . On my windows desktop in Firefox.
But everything else is.And I’ve refreshed it 3 times in the past 5 minutes.
Nor is visible on my ipad
I’ve got about 25 messages I don’t want to see again. Ever.
I don’t see anything like 3 lines or a pencil or a trashcan. Just white space between each message.
Only just before I send a message can I see those options
Once I post it.
It seems to be in Troy’s control to do with it what he wants. And judging how many messages of mine he’s flagged and deleted.
Rgis is starting to resemble Twitter after Musk bought it . And began blocking anything he didn’t like.
No . I did not say you all would not let me stay here.
I quite content to observe Troypoint the same way I have for six years . IE. YouTube. Rumble abd emails . I appreciate every one of his posts.
I just don’t want to interact with anyone.
And “messages” posted here are way to interactive for my needs.
Again. I’m looking at your site with every message I ever posted. I have look thru every inch of this site.
And see NO WAY to delete a single one of my messages
There are 3 lines below my expo21.
ALL. TOPICS
But no access under my individual messages.
Just so we’re clear. This is in no way my site. I’m just the guy who keeps things civil and points out the rules and regs when needed as well as give advice and help when I can. Kinda like the janitor. I haven’t a clue what this site would look like or how it is configured on an iPhone. I’m Android all the way. My only advice is to not post or reply and let the latest public posts slowly push your posts deeper into the DB. Eventually they’ll be forgotten. I can’t do much as I don’t have exec privileges.
I just figured that since you are a LEADER.
And not just a petty “patron” like me.
You might have had a simple solution.
FYI.
I like Troypoint.
But I was into Kodi and Terrarium 3 years before I stumbled on Troypoint many years ago.
I’ll hold off making a decision about what I want to do about my issue.
I sure as hell ain’t gonna raise it as a topic.
I saw what trouble that got me into.
TURKEY ehh.?
You’re almost into Indiana Jones country.
I hear they got actual big screen tv’s there too…
Come visit AMERICA some day
Not sure what the Turkey reference is. Heck I don’t even know what you have your knickers in a twist over. Thanks @MarkxG appreciate the support. @expo21 I thought you wanted less visibility here not more. I can’t do anything for you and I have some good ppl to help. So have a great night.
@Miki said click the three horizontal dots - this is by the “Reply” icon at the bottom of your post, this will give you option to delete your post - see image of your post as seen on a computer
I prefer OTT but Tivimate works fine. If your setting it up for them, hide all categories they won’t be using. Help them make app their favorite channels and teach then to use the search. OTT is nice because it is easy to rearrange the categories, make it open right into their favorites and if they want to use any other apps (prime, smart tube etc) you can put a link on the main screen next to Live, Tv guide …
menus and categories and search are too complicated for them. All they want/need is: power on/off, and channel up/down to cycle through their favourite channels. Any other buttons or selections cause too many problems and stress lol
Set up Tivimate to autostart and load to a channel you specify. Eliminate every category except favourites and then they can scroll up or down as needed. Seems they don’t watch many channels so it’s pretty easy.
To clarify, Tivimate can be setup so that when they turn on the TV, everything boots up and loads up so that the last channel they were watching (or any channel in their favourites) is already playing? Then all they do is click channel up and down. It needs to be that simple… 3 buttons only. Power, channel up, channel down.
Can Firestick 4k Max be setup this way, or will I need a generic android box to set this up?
Tivimate works with any IPTV service? Any from Troypoints list will do?
