SlimBOXtv offers 3rd party firmware for many Android TV Boxes. It specializes in systems that come with Amlogic CPUs but thereās also support for a few Allwinner chips as well. In this tutorial we will be focusing on how to install SlimBOXtv on Android TV Boxes that come with Amlogic processors. Why would you wantā¦
I found this topic to be very interesting and have filed it away for future possible use. But apparently it doesnāt do what I had really hoped it would. What I really would like to see is a firmware file or a box that is truly independent. That is to say something that Amazon or Google or anybody else would be unable to control and or tell us what apps we are allowed to have. To me that is total BS. If we buy a box and spend good money what right does any manufacturer or developer have in modifying our boxes after the sale?
Add this to my wanna-do list for sure. I have a few boxes worthy of being bricked.
looks interesting i have a old T95 box how do i go about finding out what my spec are on my old T95 box so i would be able to know what firmware i would need i would like to give it a try here is what i know model mbox version 11.1 build 10.1A29-0712 cortex -A53 quad core cpu thanks for any help
For those who absolutely must have Android TV O/S on their AOSP devices, this may be an ok solution. Personally, I would just get an Android TV device to begin with rather than go thru this process, which can be risky if a mistake or omission is made. I happen to like AOSP better, especially with Projectivy and other excellent Home Screen launchers that are out there that simplify things without installing a new O/S.
@joe981, AIDA64 app will give you lots of infoā¦.
do i download app to T95 BOX to run or to pc when t95 is hooked up to usb thanks
Hello, I donāt see anything compatible on the SlimBOXtv site for that one.
Your box comes with an Allwinner CPU which is H6 quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 and when I plug that into their site I get the following which isnāt your device.
I agree with this comment as well. I would say that you would only want to do this with Android TV Boxes that you already have. Iāve reviewed a ton of these older AOSP boxes and have already installed this on about 10 of them and it makes a HUGE difference.
CPU-Z is available on every site..it will give all the info you need about your box
download it here for free
Does Phoenix suit on the reference chart mean there isnāt a compatible version for that device
Hello, this means you need to use the Phoenix burning tool to push the file over to the Android TV Box. That tool supports the Allwinner CPUs, not Amlogic. It will still work but you need to use Phoenix and install the proper drivers as well.
I have an old GREVA" Android 10.0 OTT Box featuring a H3 Quad-Core chip, RAM 4GB, ROM 64GB, which supports 4K via HDMI 1.4, offers Wi-Fi, Ethernet, AV, USB, and MicroSD ports, running standard Android 10.
Should I keep it for Future Jailbreaking using a yet to be created Future Developed 3rd party firmware? ![]()
Or should I throw in the trash?
Some of us like to play.
Makes the hobby a bit more fun.
I loved tinkering around these devices until recently. Then I got older and the thrill is gone baby. ![]()

Hi Guys I was wondering if I used this on my X88Pro 5m would I be able to put Netflix on it afterwards as the original des not have the certificate for
it.
Pretty sure that I have an AX9 Max collecting dust in a garage somewhere. Might give this a go if I ever find itā¦
Hello, no that will not allow for the certificate.
Hi Troy, I have 6 old boxes, Android 9 or below. I was able to flash 4 of them with the tools and guides you provided. One X96 Max Pro+ which I posted in the video comments, as well as two H96 Pro+ units, and one that I canāt identify, itās the octagonal box that lights up when you plug it in. The 2 boxes I couldnāt flash have AmLogic AML8726 chips, could not find anything on the list about those. Iāll take 4 of 6 all day long, thanks for the video and tutorialsā¦lots of fun!
