Stremio has been a problem with me lately where I get no Torrentio and all others, Comet, mediaFusion are very slow to respond. I have gone back to kodi because of this because I have no issues with kodi
Torrentio is back up and running for me. 9/11/â25 1:51PM.
Hey Grace, sorry for the late reply, it seems Iâm limited to 2 a day.
I use Just Player, which is a more up-to-date version of Exoplayer, the one that Stremio uses internally. I installed it from Github, but it should be on the Play Store as well. It has less issues with codecs and better support for things like Dolby Vision. Kodi can also be used as an external player (so not as a Stremio replacement, strictly as a player), it can handle pretty much everything thrown at it, but has a slightly longer startup time, so itâs my emergency backup.
You can easily re-order and remove addons to your heartâs content after installing them, willy nilly ![]()
Use this tool to do so:
I found and installed the Just Player. When I go to settings-playback-player, my choices are Exoplayer, libVLC, and external player. Do I select the external player then?
Yes select external player and then you will get a popup asking you to choose which one based on what players you have installed.
I never seem to get a choice even if I have multiple External players installed. I go into the playback settings, choose Default Player>External Player and never get a choice of either the Full VLC player I have installed or the MX Player Pro. The Stremio just chooses whichever one it wants and Iâve never understood how it does that.
Just a quick note here. When going into settings>default player and selecting External player you will not see a list of players you have installed, to choose from. Instead you must choose a Movie or series episode, then select a source to start. Once you do that then your options will pop up for you to choose. Have a buffer free day everyone and STREAM ON.
Yes, Miki is correct. I forgot where that screen popped up.
Thanks for that. Next time I watch, Iâll look closely at the size and quality of the Torrentio sources and make the changes if it really troubles me. Often, my streaming moto is âif it ainât broke, donât fix itâ. All in all, my Stremio is working pretty good and I hate to monkey with it for fear Iâll crap it up.
Where is the best place to find Just Player? Not sure if itâs on Amazon or not but I prefer a downloader code if any one has one. @MNBob Where did you get Just Player?
Thanks everyone.
Its in the Play Store
TX. Going to add this and then use it in Stremio. I would lkke to see how it compares to the ExoPlayer. Installed and working just fine. Even the subs are shown when you select what looks like a little keyboard on the lower right. One thing that impressed me, right away, was that it actually had the âForcedâ selection. Which for those who donât know, is where it will only show subs when a foreign language is spoken, in say an english movie, instead of displaying subs for all the spoken parts. Wooo hooo. Tx team.
Ok one thing it doesnât seem to do. When watching a live show in Tivimate it doesnât allow me to click âenterâ to get a pop-up of what the actual resolution and FPS are. I always check this to find streams with the highest FPS and resolution I can get. It also does not allow my clock to be displayed in the top right. It is âbrighterâ and if I used it in TiVimate I would have to go onto my video settings and adjust brightness. So for TiVimate it does not work as well as the default ExoPlayer for me.
For those using Just Player, it can seem like there arenât many settings to fiddle with, but there are: the advanced settings can be accessed by long-pressing on the cogwheel icon.
Thanks, I had to back to the Exoplayer because I could not find subtitles. The picture quality from the Just Player seemed really good.
Subs in the just player are down the bottom when you activate the lower bar and when you do long click on the gear icon and more options will pop up for you to select what you want.
@miki You saved me the brain damage of trying Just Player, thank you. Subtitles are a MUST for me and I agree Exoplayer makes it easy.
I think the issue a lot of people are having is not really a Just Player but a Stremio one, which is the fact that no subtitle addons work with external players. So unless the file youâre playing has embedded ones, you wonât have a selection of subtitles to choose from. Thatâs just a limitation of Stremio unfortunately and affects all players except for ExoPlayer and libVLC.
Just Player did provide subtitles in Stremio. They were just awkward to access as were most of the players features.
Oh yeah, it can provide subtitles (would be the worst player ever if not
), but then they were embedded ones, meaning they came bundled with the file. Addons like âOpensubtitlesâ, âSubheroâ, âSubDLâ for Stremio for example will never show results with external players, so people who want subtitles in rarer foreign languages that can only be gotten from those addons phoning external subtitle databases may be out of luck. Luckily most files from streaming services these days come with at least the most commonly used subtitles included. I just changed the default subtitle language to English within the player and left it at that.
I change players depending on the subtitle format, since content that has .ssa/.ass subtitles can be really hard to get working properly on any player, especially if they contain custom fonts. Only Kodiâs player and Vimu Media Player can handle those without glitches.
Not working tonite
Torrentio isnât working tonight, you are right. Stopped working about 3 hrs ago. Have to wait yet again.
