Select Settings in kodi then select
Player then make sure you are in Standard, Advanced or Expert mode.
Select Subtitles
Select Enable Parsing for Closed Captions
When watching something if CC does not appear click select button while watching and scroll over to the right. The second to last icon is “subtitles”. Make sure Enable subtitles is enabled.
Below that see the “Subtitle” and if there are more than one available select a diffent one. Ex: if it says “unknown 1/2” select “unknown 2/2”.
If subtitles say “None” then i dont think its available.
Working pretty well for me.
As far a the movies, i think its a crap shoot if the movie has Subs embedded. But I’ll have to check this another time.
Ok i found a solution for you.. you will need to do a manual search for your title. The 2 i tested give titles totally unrelated to the movie when selecting Download Subtitles.
These are the steps i took to get the Subtitles for movies.
Kodi Settings
Select Addons
Select All Repositories
Select Subtitles
Select Open Subtitles.com (NOT .org)
Select install
Go back to DreamTV
Select a movie
While playing select Subtitles and Download Subtitles
Most likely the titles shown are not the movie you are trying to watch. If they are you can select and watch the movie. Otherwise…
Select Manual Search String
Enter the title of movie
××Be specific or give enough in title to distinguish from other similar titles.
You should have results for the movie you are watching.
Select a link and enjoy. Find a working link if needed.
Hope this helps.
There may be better or easier ways but this is what i found to work so i stopped. Lol
A thank you to @Miki for sending me on the right path.
I utilized subtitles to convert a movie from Spanish to English, but was unsuccessful. Could you provide further instructions at your earliest convenience?
@Peteywhwat1, have you been successful getting subtitles, recently, from any other Spanish movies? Or are you having trouble with just this one movie in particular?
Did you follow JPM69’s instructions, as listed above, to set up subtitles?
Oh, and you are turning on the subtitles option? If not then, start the movie, hit the OK button, tab right (at the bottom of the screen) to the second option from the end (just before the cog symbol), open that and turn on subtitles.
I just remembered that you were wanting subtitles on the Dream TV addon. I just tested and I’m not able to get subtitles at all for this addon. I did not try setting anything up per JPM69’s instructions. So that is what needs to be done to get the subtitles. Otherwise I do get subtitles on my other addons.
I only tried to get subs/cc in english from english speech. I never tried to find a way to convert spanish language to English subtitles. Which i think is what @Peteywhwat1 is trying to do.
