Where are you getting the gz file from. With providers like Myepgtop you don’t download the link, you right click and save the link to the file and that is what you enter into your player. Maybe your provider is the same.

In some free epgs the gz denotes a compressed list/file.

Most players should pull in the EPG when you enter your credentials. If you have some EPG and are referring to holes, then that is normal. To fill out the EPG you would need to use extra sources and even then, there are some channels like 24/7 and the specific streaming services have the info on the 1st channel in the category.

EPG options are discussed in the big threads like

It should be the same EPG, just compressed. It’s just a smaller version of the same file. It will load faster. Really no reason not to use the gz.

So when it says it only accepts xmltv how foes one change that?

It won’t just accept xmltv but will also accept xml most likely. Usually Xtream codes contain /xmltv.php? Right after the playlist url and then after the.php? Will be the username and password. So most likely it won’t take M3U entries. Just Xtream.

Did you try the gz file? It’s the same format and just compressed. It should work
