What’s your recommendation to Format it as?

Are you connecting your 2tb external hard drive directly to a Firestick? If so, I believe the Fire OS is only capable of fat32 format.
I have a shared folder on my Desktop PC hard drive (SSD) using Linux OS. It is formatted as ext 4 file system. I had to setup SMB network file sharing in Tivimate’s Settings/Other/Recording. You should see Setup SMB as an option.
For example my folder path is smb://192.168.1.103/Recordings
Some of these other Streaming devices use different OS’s… like Nvidia Shield uses Android 11 OS. I know nothing about their capability but perhaps they don’t have the fat32 required format and can connect directly to your storage device.
What kind of connections does your 2tb hard drive have?
