Just seems strange that “Static IP” would be available “free” on their app when you choose a server, and not something that you’d have sign up for.

I haven’t a clue. Someone else tried to use it and they said it was $4. I don’t use SS so you’ll have to verify the info with their CS. That info was off the internet.

I think this is the answer. They are different. You have to sign up for a dedicated static IP address ($3.75/month) that is unique to you. Or you can use the shared “Static IP” address that is offered without signing up in the app. Would be hard for you to know exactly what I was asking without having the SS app.
Hopefully this sub-thread helps someone else that is curious about this.

Big dif between a static server address and a static or dedicated IP address. You asked about a static IP address and as I quoted that cost $3.75/mth. A static server address is different. From what you describe the static server address is a “shared” address, used by multiple ppl. A static IP address would be yours and yours alone, not used by multiple ppl just you.
One thing for sure, you’re right, this should help some understand the difference and why one is an additional monthly charge and the dif between a dedicated server address and a static IP address.

Thanks again Miki. Answers are hard to come by when the questions are so poor. The acronyms and basic tech stuff can be a little confusing to some like myself. But we got to the answer eventually.
