I had been looking at some for a while, not sure what economically means to you, for me it means reasonably cheap. Other than going the Aliexpress or Alibaba, Temu route, from that I have seen the cheapest I believe I have found was the Buzz tv Classic around 130-150 depending where one looks, The Formuler Z11 Pro Max is right close 200 some others are down to around the 100 mark these are 2gb ram and 8gb storage, the Z mini, Z10. The Ugoos is up and down more than the markets are, most of what I have seen for the SK1 are closing in on 250.
You can hit up Aliexpress and Alibaba and find something in about any price area you want, reliability I am not sure of. On Alibaba just make sure you look at minimum order quantity and the cost for shipping.
TV Bro
You do realize that will give Google 100% permission to alter your code and install any adware within your app, make changes to your code or anything else they want to do to the app.
I got the SK1 from Alibaba for $150
Troy, you do understand Google is demanding the signing keys to all apps ?
This will allow Google to mod any/all apps to accept adware which I believe is the reasoning being that such adware can be sold increasing Google profits.
I will have to look, when I was looking a few days ago I did not see it anywhere for under 225.
Tbf they did have a sale promotion event on.
I see it on Alibaba for $155 USD.
Thanx , good suggestions ,appreciate em. And yea economically, meant exactly that ,reasonably cheap, I try to stay under 100 bucks. If I can. May crack the rust on my wallet n go little bigger to beat the google monster.![]()
If you can share more information on these devices. Something for me to think about.
Thanks for the post.
You can search for reviews here on Troypoint for the BuzzTV Powerstation6, Formuler, Ugoos SK1, AM9, Onn 4K and other devices. Everyone has their own preferences. I happen to like Ugoos.
I think Ugoos are the best streaming devices currently available.
Edit unless you need a certified device for some reason.
New Formuler box.
Walmart doesn’t have anything to do with what Google does to the devices that run on their OS. Walmart doesn’t have a say in it. It doesn’t just affect the onn boxes. It will affect GOOGLE TV (Chromecast) , me cool boxes and anything else that is Google certified.
Good point, I use file transfer software to side-load my apps. By using my WiFi with File Commander, there should be no blockage from Google.
No worries. I’ll just buy sketchy Chinese boxes full of malware. If the boxes contain DDS bots what do I care? Let’s screw up the internet, right Google?
I have 2 t95q android boxes the only issue is recording with tivimate and sparkle players, the t95q android boxes are on OS8. I have no issues with iotv pro smarters, recordings no problem.
So, Streameast is shutdown but more worrying is Google going to block sideloading apps. I would have thought that Google/Amazon coming up with a stunt like this would have led to a court case against them. People have bought the Firesticks and Android boxes to do with as they want. Isn’t it a bit like buying a tv and then being told what channels you can watch or buying a car and told you can only drive certain routes?
Is this allowed? It’s like moving the goalposts or making them smaller because the other team are so good.
You have to read the very fine print. You may own the device and you can toss it in the trash, take a hammer to it, run over it with a car etc, but they own the software. End users are at the mercy of google and amazon when it comes to that.
My thumbs up isn’t to applaud the fact that you pointed out. It’s to thank you for correctly pointing out the situation.
It’s really similar to what Microsoft and Apple have tried to accomplish since the mid-80s. Apple, in particular, has been very successful in selling very insolated environments.
Microsoft has largely co-oped (some would say stolen) Unix and managed to engrain itself into just about everything in the modern world.
