Free App (APK) for Local Channels

Is there a free APK that has local channels (abc cbs nbc fox) from different cities around the country? Any info you could pass along would be appreciated

it depends on what you expect from said local channels. If it’s just news casts then there are several apps that offer locals. On the other hand if you are expecting to get sports and national broadcasting then I’m not aware of anything (free)

Plus an app like Sportsfire.

Short answer, No. Locast used to be a great resource for what you are asking but they were sued out of existence by the networks.

If you cant receive local broadcast TV over an antenna, you’re SOL.

Yep I happily subscribed to locast as we live in an area with plenty of mtns and valleys, getting a reliable ota signal is next to impossible.Shame that the broadcasters are so damn greedy imo, they double dip,get all the ad revenue, plus charge subscription fees that are steep. All this for something that was/is intended to be free.

Take a look at some of the local channel prices on spectrum and comcast. And they always want more.

have you tried

The Local Now app is huge and has great stuff, but it doesn’t have any live OTA channels. LocalBTV is small and only has OTA channels from certain markets, but they are live channels, mostly your digital subchannels like GetTV and Cozi, etc. Some markets, like New York and Bay Area have a much bigger selection of the OTA channels than other cities. We used to have a localbtv.m3u which let you watch all of these channels from all markets, but they have since put a damper on that by installing tokens which have to be renewed on the server every x amount of minutes. Always a party pooper in every bunch! :slightly_smiling_face:

Ya I saw that. I looked at one and you had to get a token every 6 hrs I believe. This is why I get IPTV subs.

Yes, iptv subs are definitely better no doubt. This is just a small offering of live OTA channels for free. (these are OTA digital subchannels) Think of it as Locast’s uglier cousin who only graduated 6th grade.

Hey ya’ll :sunglasses: ever looked at VeryLocal? Its new to me but I stumbled onto it yesterday while looking for the localsend app and not sure whos behind it as I havent had time to dig down but its a pretty nice layout and has originals with vod on top of locals. Just having originals tells me Mr. Big pockets is involved :joy:… It’ Free

Very Local

Cool, cool… thanks for posting, hadn’t heard of it. Will take a look!

I have an idea. I could make an m3u from the daddylive website… they seem to have all the live OTA New York afilliates, it would be ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, and this would be playable on TiviMate or VLC. Would anyone want this? @tv64 @teehar

Here it is, if anyone wants to test and give feedback. It worked for me on both TiviMate and VLC. (I’m in the USA)

This is an m3u file which contains the live ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC OTA channels from New York.

What exact geo area are you looking for?

I see the op has not responded to anyone’s help since the post a few days ago. If the op is truly interested, then at least respond.

seriously?sub channels that are ad supported and have nothing but very old content, and nothing live, won’t allow you to watch out of your dma?

very much appreciated,I’ll get to try it tonight. In the middle of switching all my stuff from a firestick max over to an nvidia shield.

reading the fine print I see that Hearst Television Inc is behind this. They have a couple of channels that are just outside our dma, that back in the day could be received ota.Wxii and Wyff

Just ignore the localbtv site and try the m3u. :slightly_smiling_face: They have nothing to do with each other.

Don’t know what you mean… for example Cozi is a live OTA channel, but yeah, it plays kinda old classic type tv shows.

it’s a digital sub channel, that can be gotten for free online I think, many apps etc.I just don’t understand why the nab would feel the need to lock those sort of channels down to in market. Now if it were the big 4 etc with live national sports I could understand it.But anyway enough grumbling about the nab lol.
