Formuler Z12 Ultra Android TV Box Review

I have a Buzz TV PS6 Unlimited for sale. Please PM me if interested.

Since trying the z12 and sending it back, I’m wondering if I should try the nvidia pro. But I have to say my 4k pro just purrs along. Like to get a non controlled box. Any thoughts?? Cheer!:beer_mug:

Please do tell more. Inquiring minds would be interested.

Well Jerry, the z12 although cool wasn’t controlling my avr even after several attempts. And because my 7.1 surround system is just as important as my streaming device I had to send it back. But I would like to have a stock android box or a sorta nvidia. But afraid to pull the trigger. Cheer!:beer_mug:

Be Bold. Never fear anything.

The Shield while expensive was a bargain since it was so far ahead of the competition so had a long life. But I wouldn’t pay full price for one now since it is starting to show its age with missing newer video codecs and YouTube HDR limitations and newer boxes becoming more powerful but that might not matter to you. It’s not that it is bad or performs bad but over $200 for a 6-year-old device is pushing it. If you really have the itch maybe look for a deal on a used one like @miki posted is the new swap section.

KLK thank you for the info!

Oh, Scooby’s suggestion regarding Miki’s Shield Pro is a good one. Miki is an upstanding guy and very fastidious about all of his gear.

Also, If you are set on getting something brand new, Troy just published a review on the new Uggos AM9. This might be a better choice than going for a new Shield Pro.

Keep an eye out in our new “Swap Shop” category. I just sold my 2019 Shield Pro for $80. More stuff to come. I’ve accumulated a bunch of stuff over the years that is barely used and rather than sit in a drawer I am selling it off.

I cut the cord awhile ago but would like to upgrade from Firestick 4K to Formuler. I see that they just released Formuler Z12 Ultra. Would it be better to purchase the Z12 or Z11 Pro Max? Is the only difference the backlit remote control?

There is little difference in price, Z12 ultra is the option I would go for - Android 12, more internal storage, new remote, Dolby vision / atmos

Friend has both Z11 pro max / Z12 ultra - says picture quality/ sound on Z12 ultra is better tested on new LG Oled

Anyone else having issues with Stremio on the new Formuler Z12 Ultra, works fine on my Z11 Pro and also on my Mini, but getting an error message on the Z12.

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, checked settings on box and Stremio account.

Don’t know what the problem might be.

Any help would be appreciated.

Give us the exact code and at least we might have a clue where to look for an answer.

Always get “No Streams Were Found”message only on the Z12

Just a thought but if Torrenio is the only add on in your Stremio, you are getting blocked like many of us. Maybe you need to add Comet, Media Fusion and Pirate Bay?

Yes, it is probably best now to use the bootstrapper to set up Stremio. Also, try setting the VPN to outside the US.

Well, I pulled the trigger on one of these new boxes. I own 2 - Z11 Max & 2 - Z11 Pro’s, & My oldest Max just started getting possessed. It is doing some unreal things beginning with the volume stuck on mute with me fighting to get it to work again. Many things beyond this happened such as apps not opening up when clicked on, My MOL3 showing services expired that don’t expire until next year, volume low on HDMI & Optical but works properly on Bluetooth, pressing button once & goes nuts chasing up or down the list of channels, just to name a few. All of my boxes I bought from the formulerstore.com as an “open box”, except the one I bricked. The one I bricked was bought from an individual on Ebay, and even showing Formuler support all the info of this fact refused to help stating to contact seller which they know is useless. This particular box that is failing wasn’t much over a year old, but I then got to wondering is it really open box or just a long used return or refurbished unit? None of them are factory sealed that I have ever seen so who really knows. I also got to wondering if the new Z12 Ultra design with the ventilation on the top is possibly to help overheating issues the prior Z11’ may have had some issues with maybe? I haven’t had any trouble until now with any of mine failing, but the thought crossed my mind. Since this was my living room & oldest box I decided to spring big for the newer model. I can’t wait to see if it’s really quicker & better than the Z11. I still have another Max here that I bricked by having VPN on an out of area location during setup that I have hopes one day that somebody will have a cure. Support was useless on the matter. I won’t make that mistake again!

I would contact the website you brought from to see if they could offer a solution as they say “Top-notch support”

Sorry Mike, I messed up on identifying the bricked box. I have edited my error. Some guy named Charlie from their support kept insisting on contacting seller when this was an individual on Ebay that doesn’t know how to unbrick. Even after providing all proof to him of the purchase he refused to help me to get it unbricked. I guess my mind is a little fried from all the struggling I have been going through with the one that is failing. I may try to factory reset it to see if it will heal up possibly, but I have my doubts. It obviously is very sick. :joy:
