I tried to add Kodi to my new firestick with Downloader and it will not install. I get a message stating that it is not secure. Any fixes?
try the apk from the kodi website i have used that for a few sticks
Does Kodi need to be downloaded first? Amazon software will not allow me to download the Kodi app.
yes there shouldnt be a problem loading the app i have it on all my sticks also check in setting you have allowed apps from unknown sources

I cannot find the unknown sources setting on the new stick. Does it go by a different name?
It is the OS 8.1 version.
It should be I settings under my fire tv or installed apps also enable developer on sticl
Can’t find either setting under fire tv
To become a developer go to my fire tv in settings and click seven times and it will com up enabled

Maybe I am a little confused. My understanding is the OS 8.1 is a new operating system for new Amazon devices and I am running OS 7 on several older devices. Older devices can’t be upgraded to a new OS, only new devices loaded from the factory. Even after all the change to Vega, the older devices will stay on whatever their previous version was. Therefore if that is correct any older device running less than OS 8 cannot be upgraded to Vega 8.1. I don’t know if the older versions will still receive security updates but if I am correct the older devices should still be capable of side loading apps. In conclusion when the older devices die I will hope there is something out there to replace it. Currently I am also running a couple of ONN devices Any advice on how much I said is true will be greatly appreciated.

Amazon can still block sideloading on these devices anytime they want.
My older 4k cube isn’t on the latest update (it’s on 7.something or other) but it’s still kicking off “problematic” apps and not allowing me to reload them - hence why I just purchased a new Shield Pro in the Prime sale this AM

My 2nd Gen Cube kicked off some side loaded stuff recently but Kodi and Downloader are still working fine.
what apps did you lose i only lost flixvision
I lost SD Maid, unlinked, VLC for Fire and X-plore.
