Expand Fire TV Stick 4K Internal Storage With USB Flash Drive using ethernet hook up

Has anyone figured out how to use external storage when 4k hard-wired? Will work if using wifi but not if using an ethernet cable. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

explain how you can have external storage and hard wire @same time?

Don’t know that you can as I said. Using the ethernet adapter and OTG cable combined will not work but if using wifi and OTG it will work. Tried plugging in OTG cable before and after the ethernet adapter no luck either way. I suspect that the adapter is using part of the lines in the micro usb to transfer internet through.

Not sure how that would help? The power cord input and input to fire stick4K use micro usb. these are the cables I’m using to try this.
Ethernet adapter :https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Ethernet-Adapter-Fire-Devices/dp/B074TC662N/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3L6YTWJDHCX0C&dchild=1&keywords=fire+stick+4k+ethernet+adapter&qid=1600059831&sprefix=firestick+4K%2Caps%2C175&sr=8-3

Thank you for trying to help but I don’t understand how that would help. But if it would could you explain how it would really help me. Thanks again!

I too have tried everything and every connection to no avail with the ethernet cable. :anguished:

You need a hub. Something like the powered hub that has OTG capabilities as well as ethernet. Smays is one manufacturer.

Works like a dream on my Max. Now fon’t forget, the Max only has a 10/100 switch so you won’t get more than 100Mbs with ethernet. If your modem is in a clear line of site and under 30 ft from your Max, and you log into the 5GHz band you will get faster WiFi speeds. But 100 is tons even if say your VPN cuts it down to 80.

Hey Miki
I have a question in relation to this topic.
I have a 1 terabytes WD My passport Ultra that I would like to use to expand my storage for firestick or Tivimate.

How can I make this happen?

Sorry I’m not the guy to ask about storage. I never record anything and just use a small 16GB Sandisk 3.0 usb drive on the Max for saving apps. Nothing to that. Very easy.

No problem…thanks for the response…

Miki,

Are you certain about the Max only supporting 10/100 ethernet? Just ran Analiti speed test on mine… 328 Mbps. The Fire Stick built-in speed test indicates 338 Mbps.

Yes, the max wired is onlyy 100 it has a 10/100 ethernet port with the adapter.

How am I getting 300+ Mbps? I’m using the Ugreen adapter… https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TWGHM99/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
