downloader app does not avail a keyboard to enter search terms or codes. Did have it. disappeared 3 to 4 weeks ago. Unistalled and reinstalled app.
Can not enter anything
on some devices you have to authorise the app in settings worth a look

downloader is working just fine on a firestick == wonder if the last shield update did something

I find Downloader to be a bit too quirky. I got so frustrated with it too many times and now basically just use TVBro. Make sure you enabled permissions.
Downloader just sits forced stopped in my all-apps menu for the most part
The Downloader cursor is enough to drive you nutz! lol
Anyway, I use a Shield Pro and can bring up the keyboard and type.
Check settings>keyboard>manage keyboards to see if one is enabled or switch to another keyboard. Try installing a 3rd party keyboatd. I use Gboard. Gboard - the Google Keyboard - Apps on Google Play

No problem here. Downloader is working just fine on my Shield pro. But I’m with @Powerfader on this one. I also found Downloader to be quirky and slow responding so I also use TV Bro to download APKs and even zip files for Kodi.

Downloader works perfect on my ONN 4K Pro with the ONN remote. No issues navigating Troy’s Toolbox, or using the Browser and you can’t beat bing able to enter a code to get a lot of stuff

what and where is TV Bro ==compatible with Nvidia ? If this is a really dumb question, I; sorry but I don’t know anything about it
You can get it either from the Troypoint Toolbox: TROYPOINT Toolbox or from the Play Store: TV Bro - Apps on Google Play
And yes it works fine on my Shields.

TV Bro is a web browser like Chrome. It’s a bit difficult to maneuver around with at first. Once you do spend the time to learn how to use it, you’ll find it has a lot of good features and it works real good on the Shield Pro.

It may not be downloader. I can not enter characters on downloader or RV BRO.

Yup that’s on your end. Could be the remote don’t know. Does your remote work in other areas meaning are you able to open your Keyboard? Because there’s no issues with Downloader
Does the KB actually pop up for you to enter characters? If so then are you unable to click anywhere on the Keyboard? In your shield have you gone into settings>Device Preferences>Keyboard and checked what your configuration is? There you will find “Available virtual keyboards”.
