Do you use an AV Receiver in Your Home?

I ordered a Sonos ARC soundbar and a Denon AVR-S760H AV receiver. I was anticipating that this combo along with a set of Mirage (L/R speakers) and a Boston sub would improve the sound characteristics, particularly voice. I find that voice can be particularly poor on some specific shows. I sent an email to Denon asking about how I should connect the Sonos ARC sound bar using the eARC connection, and was informed that it was not compatible. At this point, just utilizing the Sonos ARC.

I no longer use a receiver. I wanted a cleaner more streamlined set-up so I went with KEF LS50 II wireless self powered bookshelf speakers. They act as a sound bar for movie watching and as stereo speakers to stream music. They are better than any sound bar on the market unless you are paying $2,500 + for a premium sound bar. The KEF’s are pricey, but a retirement gift that puts a smile on my face.

I have a Sony BDV-E500W DVD Home Theatre System hooked up to my TV. Each time I turn on the TV though, I have to press tools button on the remote, scroll to Speaker Select, choose Receiver and enter for it to swap from TV speaker to the Receiver though.

I use the AV receiver but as a centralized audio site for not TV use. I have a Onkyo receiver connected to the network that allows me to stream Spotify across the zones in my home, plus outside using the wired speakers with an A/B switch.

I use a Denon receiver, Epson projector, Sony DVD, and various Android boxes so I need a universal remote to tie it all together. The Logitech Harmony works really well for me…
One complaint about your Android box reviews, is that you don’t specify whether they are compatible with a universal remote. I recently obtained a Xiaomi device and it doesn’t work with universal remotes. I’ve ordered an OTG cable and will try hooking it up with my keyboard remote, and may be able to connect the Logitech through the keyboard device.
Judging from the high use of AVR receivers, I’ll bet there are lots of us using universal remotes.

Suggest you get a Logitech Harmony universal remote. It will make it all easy.
