My Android install intructions are easy and sort of amusing…because it is so fast to accomplish. (20 minutes or less including KODI setup/Build install)
The Windows install takes about 2 hours for me.
:::::::For a First Timer…I recommend the following:::::::
Order pizza. Have beer available.
Ashampoo is free but the paid version is faster. (Paid…10 minutes/Free 1 hour or so…may a few need reboots…that is why it take much longer. Save your CA$H and suffer thru it.
Save your money. Get one box configured perfectly.
You will not need Ashampoo after that…ever.
Win to USB is free for Win to Go version. That is what I use and what you need.
For explaining purposes…it means that the configured USB stick can be used in ANY computer and boot to Windows. It may lack some drivers that Ashampoo will find and install.
For details on install you can check Tom’sHardware or just use the guide here:
Tiny 11 Windows from the Canadian group that are the ORIGINAL developers.
You need the ISO. Win11 Tiny 23H2
It is also on github but that is not is straight forward.
The torrent option is faster and legit. <<<---------Hint Hint…not just for this<–HINT!!
The direct download may take some time…I roughly estimate an hour for the D/L even if you have internet speed faster than god. The archive is slow…on purpose…dissuades bots etc.
Thanks for following up with me. I have bought a couple of usb drives. But have not started yet to venture into the experiment. Because I had to go help my sister, moving to Missouri. And helped her with some fixing up of her place.
I plan on, after tax day, to work on them. So, I most likely will be bugging you, latter part of the month.
Hi, I kept forgetting that I can’t reply you via email.
I felt so stupid from the get-go. So, I bought a couple of fast USBs as per your directions; then I got stuck trying to download the Win To USB (I created an account at GitHub; checked YouTube on how to download files from GitHub - because I couldn’t even find the file in GitHub) and I felt sooo terribly stupid that I didn’t want to nag you to death. …But was really glad that you reached out and asked. So, can you kindly tell me how the heck to even download the files at GitHub… Thanks in advance!
I am reading up at the Hasleo: " How to create a Windows 11 installation USB drive that can bypass Windows 11 system requirements" & I’ve copied the entire chain of your instructions onto a word doc so I can review and follow your instructions. That’s your edition of “Get Tiny Windows11 to run in an old Chromebox - for Big Dummies!”
Ok, next… How do I grab Tiny11-NETDEV (from GitHub)
I am asking a ton of questions because I can only post 3 messages per day.
a) OK, I am up to this step: “Create a Windows Installation USB Drive”. - I’ve done that onto a USB drive. Do I then get the Chromebox into developer mode (I’ll need to look at my cheat sheet on how to do that), then with this USB, install Tiny11 on to the Chromebox (with it offline) ? Then use Ashampoo to update the necessary drivers. - Do I install the Ashampoo directly to the Chrome box or to the USB? then have to setup the Chromebox to connect online to get drivers (can it be downloaded directly to the Chromebox or to the USB 1st (then how to install the drivers to the Chromebox? Then when I restart the box, it should be running Win11? Do I disable all updates to Win11? Can I have a USB drive be permanently plugged to the Box for use as the Chromebox’s drive?
I am trying to locate the Intel chipset info on the board ? I have attached a pic… I don’t see any markings that ID the Intel… ( …please describe the approx location for me to look…)
c) I somehow not comprehending the need for BalenaEtcher. (I understand it is a utility used for writing image files such as .iso and .img files, as well as zipped folders onto storage media to create live SD cards and USB flash drives) but at what step to use that, why, and for what. (and which one to use? of the 3: 1) ETCHER FOR WINDOWS (X86|X64) (INSTALLER)
2) ETCHER FOR WINDOWS (X86|X64) (PORTABLE)
3) ETCHER FOR WINDOWS (LEGACY 32 BIT) (X86|X64) (PORTABLE)
(BTW: I know I am really making a laughing stock of Myself, for being such a big Dummy. I hope it can help relieved some forum members that maybe a bit depressed… But I think all the info you provided in this forum can help other people as well. But I really admire your smartness, super knowledge, and most of all, the tremendous patience, for even a big Dummy like me! You would be great to teach!
I hope you can provide some classes on something like ‘Online safety’ for seniors, because there are bad characters that prey on that…
Install Tiny11 to US via Win to USB on your pc or laptop.
Then boot up the chromebox with the new USB with tiny 11 image on it.
Go thru the set up.
Most things should work and you should be able to use KODI and Tivimate etc.
TO optimize you need Ashampoo or something like it.
Ashampoo is to be install after Tiny 11 is run for the 2/3/4 time you boot windows a0 via the USB on the Chromebox.
Yes disable updates. You will not need them.
Yes USB will be always be in the box in order to use the box but it can be used in any PC to boot up. think of it as Windows on your keychain or Your own Windows Anywhere you are and there is a pc to borrow,
b)hard to see
c)Etcher for portable. It a USB with an image that can be used on any pc.
First…did you check the BIOS to see if the Chromebox has UEFI ( i doubt it) or legacy BIOS?
I think you told me you flashed it ot UEFI.
Once win to USB is installe, you can go online ad install Ashampoo. Just follow the steps. Once you have that USB drive up and running with KODI and so forth…you can clone it easily for the other boxes
Based on your statement “as Windows on your keychain or Your own Windows Anywhere”,I think what I need to do is install to the USB as ‘Windows to Go’, so I tried a few times - but WinToUSB will not let me do it because the ISO file is based on Win pro - and, I am trying to see if the other ISO file (on Internet Archive) is hopefully NOT a ‘Pro’ version. (somehow, WinToUSB will do the ‘Windows Installation USB’, but the description, seems to indicate that it if for installation of Windows to a device; so that the USB acts as if it is an installation CD to install Windows.)
Let me know if my interpretation is wrong - and if you know of a different version of Tiny11 that is not based on the Pro version of Windows 11.
Since I could not get WinToUSB to do a ‘Windows to Go’, I did an ‘installation CD to install Windows’ on the USB drive, and tried installing to the box. (see attached)
…I am stuck at this part of the installation. What do I need to do next?
Go into BIOS/UEFI and change the boot order to USB first…
BUT BUT BUT FIRST install Window to the USB.> YOU NEED to do this via your pc and not use the chromebox yet.
Once you have windows installed to the USB either Win to Go or Win to USB. Just boot the USB.
the 16 GB partition can only handle ANDROID 8.1 x86. Works fine for KODI 21 and for a IPTV tuner except tivimate. Handles SurfShark fine…istall chrome browser and use it for the thetvapp.to
Tons of simple games for android out there. I got mine to display wired/wireless to my tv(s)… It is kinda fun to play with but it needs the chrome drivers from the website i listed above.
