As of October, Roku is blocking all streaming devices including my Onn. What TV’s are best to use with ONN?

Could you please provide a link to the source of your information?

Something doesn’t sound quite right.

I agree. Are they saying you can no longer plug your streaming device into the TV, Via HDMI, as a video source?

Roku has implemented a system where devices are blocked from accessing streaming services until users consent to updated terms, including forced arbitration clauses. This change has affected Roku TVs and streaming devices, forcing users to accept new terms before the device can be used again. Some users report that even after agreeing, devices remain unresponsive or unable to connect to the internet.

  • Forced Consent: The issue stems from a mandatory on-screen prompt that appears upon device startup, preventing access to all streaming services until the user clicks “Accept” on new terms. This has been described as coercive, with users stating they paid cash for their devices and should not be forced to agree to new terms retroactively.

Device Functionality: The device is not permanently disabled—only access to streaming services is blocked until consent is given. However, the experience is disruptive, especially for users who rely on the device for entertainment.

Roku has been doing this for a couple of years. Not sure why it just showed up on your TV(?)

Here is a source I just found from 2024 - Roku disables TVs and streaming devices until users consent to new terms | TechCrunch

Unless I am missing something this was just a new user agreement on Roku devices. Either way this is one of a thousand reasons to not purchase Roku devices - Why Roku's Success Shows Everything Wrong With Streaming

Thank you Miki! I should have read the entire response string first though to see which direction it was taking. I posted a kind of lame response, lol….

Oh hey, don’t be hard on yourself. I’ve messed up a bunch of times. :face_with_spiral_eyes::grin:

I bought a 65” Roku TV in Sept 2025 and it worked fine and I installed my Onn on it no problem. I bought another Roku TV late October 2025 and it would not load. It was blocked. I wrote to Roku and they wrote back that they changed their security. Luckily I already had the first TV loaded so I can still use the Onn but I cannot download anything more.
