I won’t be purchasing any more firesticks, Amazon should be charged with fraud and hacking. Purchaser’s paid for a product the the seller is unlawfully constantly hacking. Amazon is even hacking into my 4k Stick, it’s running version 6 and my apps are being blocked. The first one to go was the Troypoint website app. This is criminal.

Amazon is being selfish. Third party apps are not bad apps. they are spectacular. We need them. We’re on a fixed income, so we can’t afford cable, so amazon needs to allow sideloading on newer fire sticks and find other ways of making money.

While Troy hyped the Onn 4k + stick and I recommended it on another site, I purchased one and returned it after it required a ton of registration info and I felt it invaded my privacy if I would sideload. Also Firesticks and other Onn devices ran faster and the resolution sucked. Maybe just the stick/box I purchased? But I won’t buy another. Also Google has been delving into the same practice. So how much longer will devices allow sideloading?

Exactly. As soon as these sticks get in the hands of these smart developers, the programming/testing begins to get these unlocked somehow. I don’t know the details within these sticks, but just like anything else in cord cutting, I’ll bet someone finds a way.
I just replaced a bricked FS4K Max with another FS4K Max. I did all the things that Troy suggested and it’s working fine.
Goodbye 4K firestick, hello 4K plus. Tired of all of amazons tactics, see if google is any better.

Amazon has gone the route of Roku kick out garbage devices with horrible specs each year with a higher price and no performance. And the firetv devices will be phased out but what can you say firetv was not making money outside of ads which cord cutters kept finding ways around them. Amazon will make more money on streaming devices and ad revenue and prime video subs with Vega. Simply a business move can’t blame them Roku wraps same device in new packaging each year with new prices and literally printing money and never having to spend money on improving product i.e. Dolby vision been out 10 years Roku was last major brand to put the feature on their devices like a year ago.

Me too no loner buy Amazon fire stick or the cube. They’re just like everybody they want more money, money money and not helping people that can’t afford cable TV.

Switched out mine to Formuler and Ugoos AOSP boxes. So far I like the SK1 the best. Havent played with Formuler Ultra 12 enough.

The only reason I have purchased more than 12 of these is the ability to sideload.
I’ve given friends and family Firestick as a gift.
Now it looks like I’ll have to move ONN!
I still have 4 unopened 4K Max. Wonder if Santa would like them.
