Yeah no thanks. I won’t be purchasing one. More Amazon control.
your wrong you can’t sideload
Thanks for the HEADS UP TROY! I will NOT be buying anymore Firesticks. My ONN android ones are working just fine.
Yes, I bought a HiSense QD6 QLED flat screen TV, and it came with the FireTV stick. Did not allow me to set up Stremio or Cinema. I believe they are using Vega OS in many of the models.
If you’re talking about TiVo, can you tell me then how I sideloaded most of these apps I have on it using Downloader, Troypoint Toolbox, etc???
Should we buy a few of the current Firesticks now?
Ditto tanisha009. We knew it was coming sooner or later. So buckle up cord cutters. This is just a bump in the road. A million thanks to people like Troy for keeping us educated and informed.
No real surprise here. I ditched my Firestick devices years ago now and the only good thing I have to say about them is that they forced me to learn about streaing technology and how to mitigate the various bumps in the road. Unfortunately, it remains a ‘weakest link in the chain technology’ and you might as well invest in a solid hardware platform from the start so at the very least, you can reply to all those IPTV providers, when there’s problems, “ir’s not my device, you wingnut”, lol.
I won’t be buying this. Why would anyone?
Taking a page out of roku’s book.it won’t work unless Amazon TVs sales go up ,!! Funny thing I was so happy to see I’m able to “ uninstall” completely (photos) from my fire sticks and now this. Afto stay stap ahead thanks troy and gang for keeping me updated
I think it’s only a matter of time before this one get hacked to side load…. There are some really smart hackers who will love the challenge. I currently have 2 4K Firesticks and one FireTV which has one of my firesticks inserted… So… We shall see…
I gotten my hands on one of the new fire stick 4k select early thanks to Amazon for letting me test it out before release. And I have found out a way to sideload apps on this new fire stick. And it only took me actually 15 minutes to figure out how to do it. I will have a video on how to sideload on this new device on the official release date.
According to Amazon the sticks will still work, but they will no longer make anymore. That is why the 4K Max has been reduced to 39.99. .
Which means they consider side loading apps a security issue so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them “update” existing/older devices to block apps they don’t approve of in the future.
I am actively moving away from Amazon products due to the intrusive framework and tight use requirements. This new product sealed the fate of the Amazon ecosystem within my home; it is no longer an option. I have the Onn 4K Pro and love it. My wife likes the Cube, so that is still in use in areas she uses. The DOTs, guestroom Cube, and CarPlay units are being phased out as they age out. I believe that Amazon is making a huge mistake, but then maybe an informed user base is not who they are marketing to, given their Fire HD tablets, which I feel are clunky and restrictive, but again, my wife enjoys it so there is that.
Oh, I’m sure they would but thanks to the new exploit mine are locked down by me. I have mine setup exactly how I want them, and they will stay that way. The Fire Cube 3 is nice hardware.
I definitely will not be buying one. Ever
What is important to me is video quality, by not passing through Dolby etc. it is a huge concern. Even if we download official apps the quality will suck. I will continue to use older units until they die. No more purchases. Unfortunately far too many dummies will still buy.
What will happen in Asia? Disny+ app needs to be sideloaded. Amazon version doesn’t work here.
