I use my Onn4k Pro as a travel box when I’m out of town. Recently I’ve been having issues with audio playback. I’ve been getting incidents of either audio dropping out, crackling audio. It doesn’t matter what service I’m using to stream. Other times, when audio is affected, the background audio track is unstable or missing altogether, leaving only dialogue’s audio.
A device reboot would fix the issue, but only to reappear again after coming out of a sleep session.
After doing some heavy reddit digging, it appears that something got broken after a late 2025 android 14 update.
After trying several of my own personal setting, cable swaps, and player changes…the problem persisted. There were success stories with users disabling their surround sound setting in the Onn advanced audio settings. This worked. Audio played normally after this.
Though, I’m wondering if it’s a surround encoding output issue from the Onn box of if hotel TVs have some kind of virtual surround decoding that’s not playing nice with the Onn’s surround sound output?
I don’t recall having this issue with my OG $20 streamer. I just picked up two Plus models - I will be testing these to see if similar audio issue are present.

The best Technical Support is right here on the Insider. There are a bunch of very smart folks here that should be able to gladly help you out.
For what Walmart sells these for, it’s not a bit surprising that there is no traditional Tech support.
Why so sensitive? No harm meant. I never said anything really bad about the ONN. I even bought 3 and loaded them with great apps to save family members from spending money on cable but when one of mine started having problems I returned them both only because I don’t buy or subscribe to anything that doesn’t have customer or technical support. I was actually trying to find out if they now have tech support from Troypoint so that I could buy it again. So enjoy your Onn and if you find out about any support I’d appreciate it. Until someone has info I’ll stick with my 3 Nvidia Shield.
That’s a common complaint about the vast majority of device suppliers. Thank heavens we can find help here on the insider. The Shield has a huge number of settings and it requires some effort to learn, but the rewards were worth it IMHO. Without actual manufacturer input there have arisen a lot of blogs and groups with some pretty tech savvy individuals. But we’re getting off topic. This is a thread about the ONN. Looking forward to some hands on reviews from insiders and Troy alike, when they get released. Have a buffer free day.
where did you find them in stock? when i search on walmart website it says out of stock. what city are you in? maybe i can change my city and it will ship them.. thanks
Yeah, there can be a limit on the amount you’ll pay for these; cell phones come to mind because I won’t pay $1200 for an Android phone anymore, and I still get just as good bells and whistles.
Why is everyone so cheap when it comes to streaming boxes. I spent over 350 on my buzz tv power station 6 and love it! You make up the money in a few months by not having a 120 dollar cable bill.
The Onn 4k plus went up in price when you can catch it in stock …I go lucky and got one 2 weeks ago for the old price and 1 week later it was up to almost 40.00 so yessss I assume the new 4k pro will be around 60.00 for sure …but it’s worth it
