Advice on upgrading to a new router

I desperately need advice for a new router.
I have spectrum and their router is crap.
I have surfshark and have nothing but streaming problems. stop using my VPN- buffering goes away. its their equipment so i cannot customize it.
problems other than buffering. the spectrum tech says that their crappy modems do not support VPNs and he recommended (surprise!) the $900 netgear nighthawk router.
my neighbor has been causing interference/interruptions to my blink wifi cameras. i can say this because suspicious activity only occurs when she is home and on that side of the house. can’t call the cops as i have no proof.
either way i need something strong fast and reliable because i am full time WFH.
I have nieces and nephews that visit often so ipads, iphones and various gaming devices along with three firesticks and one Nvidia shield ( 8- wifi blink cameras and two Ring doorbells ( ethernet connected) . I have 1gbps speed.
can someone help me with router options and advice???

Its great for me. I ordered it when I got my new 2 gig fiber upgrade. The ISP’s router was only good for 1 gig. Why would they supply a router that only allows half the bandwidth of what you pay for? I asked them and never got an answer. Weird. But yeah, this TP Link works awesome and Im pleased with it.

Asus does make good stuff too I concur, however the Ethernet ports on this one is limited to 1gig max. I needed 2.5 gigs or better.
Here is the US VERSION of the RT-AX82U

Yeah I bought my Asus Router like 5 month ago and was only $300 bucks there expensive, but I have a bungalow house so I need strong signals. My other router was Asus which I had for like almost 10 years it kept going offline… I thought it was my ISP doing that

TP-Link AX3000 WiFi 6 Router – 802.11ax Wireless Router, Gigabit, Dual Band Internet Router, VPN Router, OneMesh Compatible (Archer AX55) I have the 1800 model and for 2 years no problem also it’s under $100 at Amazon now $88 and change. I’ve always stuck with TP link and even once I had a problem I took a picture of the internal stats and sent it to TP link and they sent me an upgraded modem years ago. So great customer service.

TP-Link AX3000 WiFi 6 Router (Archer AX55 Pro) - Multi Gigabit Wireless Internet Router, 1 x 2.5 Gbps Port, for $129 at Amazon right now. I have the AX 1800 for a couple years now no trouble TP-Link offers a 2-year warranty most don’t one time they upgraded my modem for free when I had a problem with an old modem under warranty.

Sorry Reese I was replying to a different comment didn’t know you already had a router. Wi-Fi 7 is better yes future proof.

No Problem! I appreciate your recommendation and enjoyed reading up on that one. Im actually looking into getting two more of the same model routers to bridge a connection out to my shop out back. The TP-Link AX3000 may just fit the bill for that!

My home is a (Brick) bungalow as well. getting wifi outside is a horrific experience.

OKay , so i purchased the referred equipment only to find out that the router im replacing is a router modem with a coax connection. I did not think to check the connection because there is a separate modem connected to the router/modem.
not sure why spectrum did this other than the upcharge for equipment.

very common as most isp’s use a router/modem combo.

understood but a router/modem with another modem???

Nope, but you can use an isp’s router/combo and another router if you have web access to the isp’s and disable the router.

I’m with Cox Communications. I don’t pay for their modem. If you have a landline phone which I’ve always had they will give you a free upgraded modem with a phone jack because all the systems nationwide are upgrading they need to do that to keep up to speed. And then added my TP-Link AX1800 router that has been working flawlessly for 2 years. But if you don’t get the phone line then you’ll be paying a rental for just that modem. I just lowered my speed to 500 mbps from 1GB and pay $84 with about $30 discount that I got from them by committing the two years. I was with this ACP program now that it is lost that’s why I lowered my speed. I don’t notice much of a difference. At first I purchased my own modem because these internet companies hide this information deep in their system I googled it and found it on Cox website but couldn’t find it no other way on their website and sent it back to Walmart and then got theirs for free so maybe if you just add a landline it might work out for you on the bill it shows $20 for the landline added which is probably a package price.
