I have watched several videos on adding storage. Some say you need to format the flash drive and others don’t even mention anything like that. I have a Scandisk flash drive with the otg cables. Do you have to format it or not?

I think some mean Pre-format. As in formatting a Sandisk USB 3.0 to fat 32 on a computer before installing it on your device. Now with the 4K Max this isn’t necessary as you can simply plug it into the otg cable or hub and the Max will give you a prompt asking what you want to do and you can format to fat32 at this time.

When in doubt, go ahead a format…it’s not that difficult to do.
