Sorry I was talking about my Windows version. My 2 Shields and 4 ONN 4Ks are on the same version as you mentioned. Since I use Real-Debrid on those devices I seldom use a VPN.
Xstream, welcome to the Insider!
I was with IPV for 3-4 years but changed to Surfshark because of some issues that I don’t recall. I’m thinking that SS offered the opportunity to select what servers that I wanted to use. OH, I remembered, it was the “Kill Switch”. IPV did not have a workable kill switch at that time whereas SS had one so I made the change at that point.
I threatened to cancel and they gave me an additional 2 years free. For a total of three years for the cost of one year. Not quite 75 bucks
Try Tailscale free for me it been working great I also have Surfshark don’t use it much because Tailscale is doing a great job for me so I will be letting go of SS when it renewal time
Use another email address to sign up for a new account and let the old account expired.
@Miki Does Nord VPN have a working kill switch? If so, how would one activate it? Thanks!
Nord does not have a killswitch on Android TV, it does on Android mobile, Windows, Android Mobile etc. It may have on other devices as well, but so far not on my Android TV BuzzTV Powerstation Ultimate
@Miki Do you not worry about it dropping connection?
Nope I have the Monitor Dot.
@ Miki. Me too. But I would prefer an Active Kill Switch.
Oh I understand that completely. No idea why Proton and Nord don’t have one on streamers.
An Active Kill Switch on Fire TV/Android TV/Google TV is a big factor in our VPN Rankings - TROYPOINT VPN Rankings for 2026
I will always follow whatever VPN the TP Gang like best. When my SS expires, will pick whatever they recommend.
Over the last 10 years, I’ve used NordVPN, IPvanish and Surfshark. Surfshark has evolved and improved over the years. I assume Nord and IP vanish have, also.
Not much in it in my opinion, only price.
@TP-Ryan, @Miki, @GraceWilson, So this is my dilemma I currently have Nord VPN until 07/2027 and I am concerned about not having an active Kill Switch while streaming a lot. Should I dump Nord (with 17 months to go) and go with Surf Shark or wait it out for a Black Friday 2 year deal. I am only concerned about streaming & email protection. If anyone has had issues with Surf Shark please chime in.
All reviews that I have read on line says Nord is the better choice. Keep in mind that Nord owns Surf Shark. VPN’s are a huge money maker (in the billions) and most reviews have been paid for just like Amazon. What do you think? Thank You all in advance for your anticipated responses.
If not having an active Kill Switch on Fire TV/Android TV/Google TV is make or break for you then I would suggest looking at another option like SurfShark. If the Kill Switch isn’t make or break then I would just keep with what you have until the expiration.
@Anonymous And install Monitor Dot if you don’t have it already.
My Surfshark works great for my devices, phone, iPad and PC. I do LOVE the kill switch and it’s likely a deal breaker if I had to choose again.
Nord you can enable a killswitch called something Like “Always On VPN” on phones and tablets, just not on Streamers. This was the same with Proton.
@GraceWilson I do have it installed. Thank You for your sage advice.
