YouTuber: TORR3NT’s Tech put out a video titled, “Superbox Security Flaw Exposed: The Truth You Need to Know.” The video essentially states there is nothing inherently wrong with Superbox. The actual threat is certain APKs you load on your streaming devices that have sinister code, which imbeds proxy nodes on your device once you open the APK. Your residential home internet is essentially rented out to stranger I.e. criminal organizations.
A company called Plume Security Labs, which runs network security for over 400 internet providers confirmed this after tearing apart a Superbox. The problem wasn’t the box, but the APKs dowloaded from third parties. The three APKs mentioned in the video have the malicious proxy code set to launch at start up.
So which APKs or crap apps are the culprits; AppLinked, CyberFlix, and Flix Vision. These proxys are literally running in the background using up your bandwidth. Obviously, that leaves your network vulnerable to hackers, but their primary aim is to piggyback off your residential internet to avoid detection and expand their criminal enterprise. The solution is simple. Delete questionable apps, run reliable malware detection on ALL your devices and use a VPN.
