Hardly unexpected, given TWO prequels are already airing.

New it would happen but not ready for it. Prequels are ok but doesn’t come close to Yellowstone

Yes, it was widely known that the series will end when they finally decide to film the last episodes. Shame really as it was a good one. 1883 prequel we enjoyed very much, the 1923 for as much as we wanted to watch, we stopped watching. It was all over the place. Two can’t have multiple plots in different countries with no obvious link to the earlier episodes and keep my attention. Rated PG for Parental Garbage. Just my opinion

Been lots of talk about him stepping in but nothing definite. Personally I think they will officially wind down yellowstone and in the final season McConaughey will appear in some form and the spin begins

A lot of season 5’s air time has been filled with a bunch of horses running around in circles or suddenly stopping, scenery, moving cattle around and some admittedly pretty good alt-country music. Content has been pretty thin and stretched out.
Money talks. If they think they can wing something with McConaughey don’t you think they will? He could even be, “the half-brother they thought was dead” or something stupid. Come to save the ranch for the hundredth time lol. I’d love to see it…if only for the kicks.
And I thought 1923 was great. There is some continuity to it if you let your mind wander…which isn’t a problem for me lol.
