Guess what the year end gave me? A broken Refrigerator. What a way to end and start a new year. In Great Lakes, so put my food in a ice packed cooler in my garage. Its only in the 20s this winter season.
Not looking forward to looking for another one. Workmanship is terrible these days. Its all about profit and not quality.
We came home to find our water heater leaking all over the garage. Instead of relaxing, I shelled out $400US and fixed it myself. I was pretty pissed off at the time, but I guess it could have been worse
i watched some u tub vids and they all involve taking off the back to get at the 3 main boards inside, an if i’m the one to be takin the back off it and testing circuits and capacitors etc. etc. etc. then for sure will be broken when all is said and done i mean back in the day maybe but not now….
Bummer @Mslea but being the last day of the year perhaps you can see if some sales person will give you a smoking deal on a new one. They want to close out their quarter and year with one more sale. Just a thought
I bought a brand new fridge in Mexico to put on my deck. Home Depot had the Samsung stainless on sale for a crazy cheap price. Literally $250 USD That served me faithfully for four years running 24/7 in +30°c temps. Single door with water dispenser. Not a huge fridge but perfect for a beer & mix fridge.
I replaced it with a brand new one for under $400. It was larger in diameter than the old one due to better insulation. Other than that, it was pretty much the same (40 gallon electric). I’m glad it wasn’t $1200…My wife hates cold showers.
I love Home Depot for large purchases. Put in on a Home Depot CC and pay over 24 months. I did this on our new garage door and it’s ALMOST like it’s free because I didn’t have to pay up front. We’ve purchased appliances this way too. I love HD!
New basic ones in my area are close to $1000. Wouldn’t mind if it was going to last 10 or more year. Too mamy horror reviews on appliances these days. At a grand I don’t expect to have any problems
After seeing your post, I went to the Rtings website and checked their TV longevity ratings. Sony was pretty good but TCL and LG Oled sets have proved to be most reliable in their tests. Looks like LG LED tvs along with Hisense fared the worst. As long as you are conscientious and take steps to minimize or eliminate screen burn-in your OLED TVs will last a long time.
@sim_bill I read similar things about oled…. Yeah, I might have lucked out an found a geek (team) outcast that will “hook me up”….we shall see….but if I do go new, OLED was gonna be my choice, as that tech seems to be the most stable from what I’ve read….
A few years ago, ours was going so we started shopping…Biggest problem was finding a fridge that would fit in our space without at kitchen remodel…We finally found one and it just barely fits…It’s a Maytag and has been great so far…
I was always told to avoid the Samsung and LG brands…
