Betcha down the road all major TV manufacturers will all have their own dedicated streaming app. Possibly bringing to an end the streaming devices of today? Especially as the TV manufacturers keep beefing up their app capabilities.

But can you sideload apps into these tvs?

Short answer is yes. On all smart TVs, except Roku I believe, you can activate developer mode and enable third party apps. Most also have their own app stores. Some have different OSs like Samsung which is Tizen. But with that you can install them using a USB drive, SD Card or pen drive.
