Why Record with IPTV when you have Real-Debrid?

Just to be clear I’m not trying to bash anyone or anything like that. Just wondering why some choose to go through the hassle of recording IPTV vs using real debrid and or a plex/emby share.

The whole recording idea sounded awesome at first. I thought i was going to use it all the time, but in reality I have almost every show or movie I could ever want and then some x 100. I only really use it when someone we know is featured in the local news or other things like that. No sense in recording Night of the Living Dead when it is on tv, when i can watch it on Syncler any time I want. (Or my Plex server)

That would be one of the very few reasons I’d attempt it. My thought exactly on the second part the 3 bucks a month for real debrid or the 4 bucks I spend on an emby share I don’t even miss that small of an amount to even try to record

Oops, my fault. Sorry about that @TROYPOINT. My son watches it so much it must be on my mind all the time lol.

I like to record my fav news programs and have them availiable if I hear something good was on … Why? because I hate watching the news, bad for your health. They thrive off of gloom and doom… so I record it and if I missed a “must see” segment I can go back in time :grimacing:

Most people record IPTV for daily shows or sporting events that Real-Debrid doesn’t have. News shows, soap operas, live sporting events, etc.

I always wondered the same thing. I think it’s for people that want to record a sporting event while at work. That’s all I can come up with .:pirate_flag::pirate_flag::pirate_flag:

99% of the Shows Movies I watch are VOD with KODI+RD+TraktTV. There are 2-3 Niche type shows that I can’t get on KODI so I record those from IPTV service on TiviMate

Sporting events are great to record, but I always seem to find out the final outcome of the game before I have a chance to watch the recording. :grimacing: Not sure why that ruins it for me, but at that point I just delete the recording without watching lol.

I just followy teams on Twitter and get all the good plays on their feed if I miss a game . It’s hard for me to sit and watch a whole game already knowing who won :pirate_flag::pirate_flag::pirate_flag:

Auto auctions, I watch a 6-hour automotive auction and cut it down to 45 minutes to maybe an hour and 15 minutes. Automotive drag racing, I’ll watch a three to four hour drag racing program and cut it down to maybe 45 minutes. Tractor pulls, I’ll take an hour tractor pull show cut off the commercials cut out all the talk between the races and cut it down to about 15 minutes. News, I’ll watch an hour news and cut it down approximately 15 minutes. There’s a lot of specialty series that Kodi, streamio or nobody else has that I record so I don’t have to watch the commercials. Basically I record so I don’t have to wash commercials or cut the BS talk between the races. I’ll even take a football game record the first three quarters and watch the 4th quarter live if it’s a good game.

For me, it’s sports AND the too frequent episodes of outages of power & our RG-6 based internet services.

News. I watch all the political news shows on Sunday morning. Taping them allows me to zip through the commercials. I agree with @TXRon, they are bad for one’s (my) health, but I am fascinated by trying to figure out what isn’t being said, why something is being spun and so forth.

You are right, IPTV and APKs can fill most anyone’s viewing needs. But not daily and weekly news programs and not live sports.

I would record sports, especially F1 because it’s all around the world at different times. But it’s a nice option to have. But doesn’t seem reliable though, at least for my setup.
