Yeah, Stremio is an excellent first choice!
Is that a John Deere B??
It’s supposed to be a John Deere Model A, Unstyled.
Kodi for me at least gives me better real-debrid links compared to Stremio. I don’t get cause my account is the same.
I only use Stremio and have an RD account. Never been without a link, and 1080 up. All depends what addons you have.
It’s taken me awhile to really internalize this:
Kodi’s much more of a overall tool than Stremio.
Pretty much Stremio’s sole function is to scrape content and allow the user to quickly mash a button to get a selection. It usually does a great job of this and is very user friendly, but it’s kind of a one trick pony who does that trick well.
Kodi is great for playing local media files along with streaming. As a player, it handles everything that I have played. It has settings available to match whatever sound system you use, plus it allows easy access to control volume and subtitles. There are a few more features that I have learned to use which I won’t delve into now. But Kodi is a much more flexible overall tool.
The only reason I use stremio is simple, you can always count on it to work. Kodi, not so much. Lots of addons for any content you want to watch. Had it for years and always has worked when I need it. Got Trakt, RD, and Orion in it as well. Subs when I need them and on and on. Kodi is great for those who like it and sure has a dedicated following. I admire those with the patience and the resources to keep it working.
Don’t believe everything you read on the net, I’ve also run into this with Stremio. That’s why I also have Weyd, Syncler, & Kodi as my main apps.
I thought the original topic was why Kodi is good backup for str e m i o!
Kodi’s not that difficult…
Both are great for what they do, I just have found myself utilizing Kodi for more than VOD streaming.
I agree it isn’t that difficult but my personal experience over the years is that it certainly has been far from reliable. So it is good that we all can find the tools we like the most and use them. Have a great night @elginherd
Hey @Miki KODI has been reliable for over 8 years. It’s just not set and forget. Addons come and Addons go but in my 8 years using it there’s always reliable addons. And after you use it for a while it is very easy. Have a great night!
What time is it?
Stremio doesn’t tell you the time?
Another win by Kodi!!!

I no longer regard either as “better” or as a “backup”.
They are apps with different goals that are similar in only one, albeit important, regard.
and let’s not forget…
Voted #1 APK In the Troypoint Insider’s Poll…check
Mostly because it’s the squeeky wheel that gets the grease. We go around and around with this. Both are exceptional media players, as @MarkxG has stated when a dev stops work on their addon there are all sorts of working replacements and after a while it becomes second nature to remove and install. But for me that’s simply unecessary work that I have to do and then I’m never guaranteed how long that will last. As I simply use the apps for Movies and TV series then I have found Stremio infinately more stable and far less work. Lets be real I’m lazy. If you need more than that then yes Kodi has a huge opportunity to learn and to experiment and to be far more diverse. So our insiders are a very experimenting bunchin of ppl and love to learn and do new things with their gear, so I believe that is why Kodi made it to #1. But either way this discussion just gets lame and boring.
Great points @Miki. I know you are big on redundancy and having backups where you can. For example I know you back up your data in Tivimate. Not the same thing but the point I’ll make is this. Yes you are 100% that Addons do die at some point although the good working ones have a life of several months if not years. And there are ALWAYS multiple working Addons at any one time.
Most of us KODI users either have Builds with multiple addons or no Builds but but have multiple addons. This is redundancy so that if any one Addon fails we have one or more hot spares to replace it!
Have a wonderful day!
Excellent point @MarkxG and in all honesty one I had not really considered and that has been because of the devices I used, that did not have much space for huge Apps, but with my Shield Pro, a full on kodi with multiple addons would certainly be the way to go. Multiple backups so to speak. Thanks for pointing that out. Always love learning from a different point of view. I just wish others could have exchanges of different views like you and I do, without all the anger. We teach each other which is what the Insider is for. Have a wonderful day my friend.
