Whole house dvr for tivimate on firestick

I cannot establish a connection between my Firestick using TiviMate and my laptop. I can establish a connection between the Firestick using Tivmate and my desktop. I use the same settings for both. I tried wifi and direct connection to my router and still cannot. Any ideas why laptop will not operate the same as the desktop? Please help as I have tried all I know. Thanks.

Not really sure how you have this all set up or why. If you use Trakt you can manage your collection of shows and movies and keep track of what you have watched or are in progress across all your devices. The only thing you should need to record are live events like sports or the news. I have no idea how to set that up so you can play recordings from different devices in the house. Maybe set your recordings to save on NAS and then access those files from your devices rather than trying to connect to the fire stick itself?

Hello and thanks for the response. Troypoint made a video in November 2021 called How To Build A Whole-Home IPTV DVR. This video gives a step by step instructions which seems to only work with desktop computers since I have three different households working with desktops. I cannot get laptops to work so there probably is another setting that I cannot find to make the laptop work. Looking for the missing link. Anyone know the missing piece to this puzzle? Let me know. Thanks.

Been so long since I used a firestick not sure where to start. You are basically setting up a home network and I would advise you to search for tutorials on firesticks or android home network. Another big help in discovery is xplore file manager. Set it up and go thru all settings paying close attention to the “lan” settings as this enables discovery and server login. Also enable dlna. Study up…

What OS/make/model are your laptops.

I have two laptops and neither one can be configured to be used as a dvr from my Firestick. I configured three desktop computers with no problem to be used as a dvr. Both laptops are HP and windows 11 is the OS. There must be another setting I cannot find. I tried everything I found on the web for sharing files and nothing works for the Firestick. I can see the laptops from other computers just not from the Firesticks.

I don’t ever record and have never tried a dvr setup. The Sticks are FireTV OS and read/write fat 32. I have no clue if the sticks can write to say an NTFS file system if that is what the laptops are. This is purely a guess or a thought on my part. Sorry.

Thanks for the response. Will check the file structure on both and see if one or both are fat32.
Was hoping Troy of Troypoint would read this thread/question and try it himself on a laptop and tell the secret to make it work. If anyone can solve this mystery my guess would be Troy. Anybody now how to get this question to Troy?

All are NTFS and still no luck getting laptop connected. Looking for help from a TiviMate experienced user that has setup a laptop for restore/backup and recording. Troy at Troypoint had a video on this but used a hard wired desktop which also works for me on 3 different desktops. Cannot get it to work on any laptop and have tried 3 laptops so there is a setting I cannot find to complete the setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
