Could you please provide some sage direction in purchasing a new router for a 2,500 sq ft home that would last a few years? I am not tech savvy. Thank You for your assistance.
We all highly value and respect Ron’s opinion on tech. Until he gets a chance to respond, I found this article that might start you on the path to deciding what is needed for a 2500 sq ft house. I am a big fan of mesh wifi routers, that have multiple nodes throughout the house to help eliminate dead spots and add ethernet ports closer to the important devices.
Also keep in mind, today’s standard is Wifi6, but in the coming years Wifi7 will become the norm. Streaming devices so far are only Wifi6/6e at best, so a Wifi6 router is still very good.

Whats the budget? If possible I would go wifi-7 for future proofing but cheaper to go wifi-6. My fav brand is Asus for routers.

If you go wifi-6 I really like the Asus ZEN line of routers and I currently use the ZENwifi ET-12 AXE11000.
