Is placing Surfshark or any other VPN on your devices as well as your router overkill?

Now there’s an analogy for you. I get it. So just on the router. I will need the VPN button or some other way to know it is running.

I use it on devices only, that way I have to choice to either have it off or on. Some sites are sensitive when it comes to VPN’s but you can always put them in the bypass list but this is not possible when configured at the router. Do what works for you

Correction. I use a vpn on my router and you can bypass the vpn for devices as needed. I do it all the time.

Not all routers allow this.
